Liufangyuan Memorial square
It is located on the hillside on the left side of the garden, covering an area of 700 square meters. It is made of all hemp stone, and the railings around are carved with exquisite relief of story scenes. The monument is 11.3 meters high, 2.4 meters wide at the widest point, and weighs 75 tons. It has a whole stone structure and is engraved with nine characters: "monument to the soldiers killed in the Anti Japanese War". It was written by Wen Xuande, former deputy secretary of the provincial Party committee. The stone remains the original appearance of mining and the rough original quality of the stone. There is an oblique cut at the top, and the middle part of the right side protrudes outward, like a big knife. The stele enjoys the reputation of "the first stele in central and South China" in terms of height and weight.
Liufangyuan Memorial Hall
It is a two-story sloping roof structure. The plaque of "Liufang Memorial Hall" was inscribed by General Li duo. On the first floor, it is displayed to reflect the historical facts of the memorial tomb and what Zhuzhou saw and heard during the Anti Japanese War; on the second floor, it is displayed to show the elegant demeanor of Zhuzhou revolutionary celebrities, which is divided into four parts: the party and government elites, the magnificent general, the revolutionary heroes and the foresight of the Republic of China. The exhibits are mainly pictures and objects. There is also a film screening hall in the museum. On weekends and holidays, the memorial hall is open to the public free of charge and plays patriotic education films for visitors to watch.
Memorial tomb
Founded in 1941, it was built by the local people's sanhetu. There is a stone tablet in front of the tomb and a regular script engraved in the shadow: "when the enemy died in battle, the local people were loyal. In the winter of the 30th year of the Republic of China, the local people were public.". Later, with the passage of time, the wind and rain invaded, the stele cap and pedestal were lost, the tombs were gradually flat and overgrown with weeds, almost no smoke. After being rebuilt in the 1990s, it was also very simple. It was made into a half sphere with a diameter of less than 3 meters. In 2003, it was expanded. The tombstone was the original one, but the cap and pedestal were added. The diameter of the tomb was increased to 6 meters. It was made of gneiss and surrounded by tall green cypresses, which was solemn and dignified.
Group sculpture of martyrs
It is located at the main entrance of the park. It is 4.5 meters high and 8 meters wide. It is made of ochre red stone. Seven Anti Japanese soldiers and civilians either raise their swords to fight against each other, or jump to kill each other, or glare at each other. Their movements and expressions are vivid, reflecting the war scene of "heroes like mountains and momentum like fire". It is a representative large-scale stone carving work in our city.
Historical evolution
On August 7 of the lunar calendar in the thirtieth year of the Republic of China, the Japanese troops set out from Liuyang and Pingjiang and raided Zhuzhou. On the way, they passed hetangpu. More than 300 recruits of the sixth division of the Chinese national revolutionary army who were digging fortifications were killed, and several people died. Later, the dead heroes and the masses were buried in the torch area beside the right post road. It is commonly known as "thousand people pile".
In 1986, the Zhuzhou CPPCC proposed to restore the "thousand people's heap" and turn the site of the "thousand people's heap" into a municipal Memorial Park, named "Liufang garden".
In 2002, Zhuzhou City invested more than 3 million yuan to repair the monument of Anti Japanese martyrs and facilities in the park, which is divided into Memorial area, entertainment area and leisure area.
Liufang Garden
Since ancient times, the garden has been built either by the land or by the scenery. However, the Liufang garden is only made by the soul. Why? The spirit of the Anti Japanese war has been here for a long time. It is a great honor for the city to have such a garden. The municipal Party committee and the municipal government respected the greatness of the sages, and made plans for later generations to rebuild the old garden, enlarge the material, and make more brilliant contributions. They made group sculptures of heroes in front of the garden, erected huge stone steles on the mountains, built buildings, planted ancient trees, bamboo rhymes of Xiaoxiang, and tasted the fragrance of the winding path. They were suitable for the scenery of four seasons, transported the changes of yin and Yang, absorbed the essence of Hengyue, and led the water of Hunan to flow. Although there was no beauty of Suiyuan, it had the spirit of LAN, which was unique The Han rhyme and Chu chapter of Ninggu. Zhuzhou is the birthplace of Shennong culture, where the sages of the past dynasties have made great achievements. You can swim in the garden, you can feel the martyrs' healthy spirit in your heart, you can walk on a small bridge, you can feel the flowing water, you can hear the sound of the birds and the zither, you can inspire your ambition. In this way, the martyrs should be smiling, and the future generations also think about the difficulties of the predecessors in starting a business, so they are eager to pursue them! It's for memory.
——Yan Heping, in the autumn of 2003
