The whole fortress is located on the Fangshan platform of wai'an village. The concave design is adopted. It is hidden in the basaltic rock with a depth of 11 feet. It is difficult to detect from the sea. The fortress covers an area of 8.15 hectares, which is divided into the inner wall and the outer wall. The outer wall is a mound of earth built on three sides, with only one corridor connecting the outer wall. The mound is planted with Qiongma, which is used for concealment and defense. Between the inner wall and the outer wall are trench like depressions, while the inner wall is a group of tunnels arranged in a mountain shape. Each tunnel is connected with each other, and the scale is huge. It is made of 2-foot thick brick walls and ancient stones, with two walls There are windows on both sides, with good lighting. The tunnel is 13 feet wide and 11 feet high. It is used as barracks, ammunition storage room, command post and so on. From the stone steps in the tunnel, you can walk up to the top of the tunnel. On it, there are still remains of old artillery bases. The ancient artillery has disappeared for a long time, leaving only the empty ammunition iron frame. But from its huge scale and shape, it is not difficult to imagine that there were strong defensive fortifications here.
