Legend of Qu Yuan's tomb
There is a saying in Yueyang: "nine sons can't bury their father, but one daughter has a golden head." According to legend, Qu Yuan was rescued ten days after he threw himself into the Miluo River. Unfortunately, half of his head was bitten off by a big fish. His daughter Nu Yi (who is known as a witch or a student in academic circles) gave him half a gold head and buried him in Miluo mountain. This is the origin of "a woman with a golden head". Soon, the nobles of Chu, who opposed Qu Yuan, wanted to seize the gold head on the pretext of digging tombs and whipping corpses. When she heard about it, she used a skirt to cover the earth and built the tomb. Her spirit moved the people around her, and they helped each other. In one night, they built 11 suspected tombs in the shape of hills, including 12 original tombs. These are the 12 suspected tombs that exist today. Among them, zhaojiachong is the largest one, which is like a hill. It is 14 meters high and 44 meters in diameter. Due to the high earth sealing of the tomb, a pond of more than 100 mu has been excavated from the earth, which is called "Chu pond" by later generations. In memory of Nu Ku, Miluo mountain was renamed "lie Nu Ling", and the small bridge that Nu Ku went through was named "lie Nu Qiao". In front of the tomb stands a 1.45-meter-high stone tablet published in the sixth year of Tongzhi reign (1867) of the Qing Dynasty. It is engraved with the inscription "the tomb of an old doctor Sanlu of Chu". The other 11 steles with "tombs of Sanlu doctors" were erected in 1902. In 1956, it was listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit. In 1958, when the Beijing Guangzhou double line was built, a tomb was damaged.
Qu Yuan in the tomb of Qu Yuan
Qu Yuan (340-278 B.C.), named Ping, was born in the state of Chu (now Zigui County, Hubei Province) during the Warring States period. He was a great patriotic poet and a world cultural celebrity. He became a "zuotu" in his 20s and was later demoted as "Sanlu doctor" because of his treachery and slander. After the Qin general Bai Qi conquered Yingdu of Chu, he and the king of Chu came to Hunan area of South Lake of Chu to "fight against Qin and restore Yingdu". Later, because of the power of traitors, the country declined. The king of Chu no longer trusted him and withdrew his position of "holding dream". Yingdu "has not been restored for nine years now". He was no longer hopeful of restoration. He angrily threw himself to Miluo River to die To arouse the Chinese people to resist the strong Qin Dynasty. In September 1996, the Central Literature Publishing House published the collection of Mao Zedong's poems, which recorded "Qi Jue · Qu Yuan": "when Qu Zi wrote Chu Sao, he held a murder knife in his hand. AI Xiao is too much of Shu Lan Shao, a leap to the waves, "singing is also this period of history.
It is said that on May 5, 278 BC, Qu Yuan threw himself into the river and sank. People along the Miluo River rowed their boats to the place where Qu Yuan threw himself into the river to save the patriotic poet. People are worried that the fish and shrimp in the river will eat Qu Yuan. While rowing to the rescue, they throw their boat's rice dumplings into the river to feed the fish and shrimp, thus forming the custom of dragon boat race and eating rice dumplings in the Dragon Boat Festival. However, a generation of patriotic poets still couldn't survive. Qu Yuan was rescued by fishermen a few days after he threw himself into the river. Part of his head had been eaten away by fish and shrimp. His daughter and son-in-law gave him half a golden head for burial. Fearing that someone might dig a tomb to steal the golden head, his son-in-law built 12 suspected tombs overnight with the help of God.
