Xianyang Phoenix Terrace

The only well preserved Gaotai ancient building complex in Xianyang city is also the site of the revolution, known as the "Pearl of Xianyang ancient city". It is said that fenghuangtai comes from the history of Xiao and the allusion of making jade and blowing Xiao to attract Phoenix. At the bottom of Fenghuang terrace is a brick pier. There are four halls on the East, West and north sides. In the East and West halls are three Taibai and three Bodhisattvas respectively, and in the middle rear hall are limitless Bodhisattvas.

Fenghuang terrace is located at the north entrance of Yifeng West Street. It used to be the North Tower of Xianyang. It was built in 1371, the fourth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty. It is 6.1 meters high and covers an area of 800 square meters. There are four main halls on the terrace. It is said that the young daughter of Duke mu of Qin, Nongyu and the history of Xiao, introduced the Phoenix here. On the other hand, its architectural form is similar to that of Phoenix, so it is called Fenghuang terrace.

The walls are full of Buddhist stories, and colored sculptures are set outside the gables. In particular, there is a complete glass relief pattern on the gable of the East Hall. The legend of jade riding Phoenix, Xiao Shi riding horse and Qin Mu Gong riding dragon shows that the relief art is exquisite and lifelike. There is a bell, a stone and a cypress on the stage. The sound of the bell is loud and can carry the number of miles. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Zhang Dashen, a native of the city, wrote a poem: "the stage rises to the void, the Danfeng perches on the surface of the clouds, the Dengdao hangs on three peaks, and the head and tail are shrouded. Setting up the God to hold the cave, the Phoenix rings the cypress, opening an account can brighten the moon, rolling the curtain to frighten the birds.... " Fenghuang platform has experienced many vicissitudes. Some of its magnificent decoration and original appearance have been damaged by fire and man-made damage. The existing four halls are exquisite in architectural art, and the magnificent landscape of that year can still be seen.

In 1921, when Xue Dubi was the governor of Xianyang County, he sent people to ring the bell every morning to promote people to get up at dawn. There was a theater in the southwest of the stage, and there were customs of "visiting all kinds of diseases on February 2" and "climbing on the double ninth Festival" every year. Therefore, "Fenghuang Gaotai chengzhongjian" was listed as one of the Eight Sights of Xianyang.

Cultural relics protection

In order to protect fenghuangtai well and further develop it, the cultural relics and Tourism Bureau of Weicheng District of Xianyang City, after carrying out rescue maintenance on the East Pier and East Hall of fenghuangtai in 1998, has been actively striving for and implementing provincial funds for the maintenance of ancient buildings in recent two years to reinforce and repair the taidun, the middle hall and the south pier of fenghuangtai. After careful carving and repair, fenghuangtai ancient buildings have become a new landscape and tourist spot in Xianyang city.

Legend of making jade in Xiao history

It is said that fenghuangtai originated from the allusion of Xiao history and the introduction of Phoenix by nongyuchuxiao. It was first seen in the biography of the immortals by Liu Xiang of the Han Dynasty, which said: "Xiao history teaches nongyuchuxiao to make the sound of Phoenix. When the Phoenix comes, it stops its house. Qin Mu Gong made Fengtai. Once it was built, it would fly away with the Phoenix. "

It is said that Nongyu, the daughter of Qin Mugong, the king of Qin, fell in love with Xiao Shi, who was learning to be an immortal at that time. Xiao Shi was very good at playing Xiao. The sound of Xiao was as beautiful as Fengming, while Nongyu was intoxicated. Nong Yu loved Xiao Shi very much, so Duke mu of Qin married his daughter to him, and built a high platform near Yong, the capital of Qin state, for Nong Yu Xiao Shi and his wife to live in. Under the guidance of Xiao history, Nongyu learned to play Xiao every day. Finally, the sound of Xiao was like the sound of a Phoenix, which attracted the Phoenix to listen to Xiao on the stage. One day, the beautiful sound of Xiao will lead to a dragon and a Phoenix. The history of Xiao will take advantage of the dragon and the jade will take advantage of the Phoenix. They will both fly into the sky and become immortals Although this is a myth and legend, the phoenix platform is truly standing in Xianyang. Moreover, it is a well preserved high-rise building complex in Xianyang city.

This legend shows the divinity of Phoenix as a metaphor for emotion, which has been handed down to the present day. In order to commemorate this historical myth and love story, later generations use architecture as an object form to express the space plastic art with both practical and aesthetic functions. "Red memory"

In 1921, Fenghuang station set up a special person to ring the bell; in 1928, a library was set up on the platform, and then a public education center was set up; during the revolution of 1911, Dong Ruisheng and Wang Shiji of the revolutionary party held a mass meeting in the square on the right side of the station, and drove away the magistrate of Xianyang of the Qing government; during the Anti Japanese War, Fenghuang station set up air defense surveillance posts; Fenghuang station was also the center of activities of underground workers led by the Communist Party In June 1949, after the Chinese people's Liberation Army took over Xianyang, Xianyang Municipal People's government was established, and the municipal government was stationed in fenghuangtai; later, there were cultural centers and libraries.
