As soon as you enter the gate of the exhibition hall on the second floor, the preface entitled "on the side of water" vividly shows Quanzhou's coastal city with mountains and sea. The sand table in the first exhibition hall shows the changes in the topography of the Taiwan Strait, as well as the trace and shadow left by the migration of Paleolithic ancient humans from the mainland to Baodao. We can see the Quaternary mammal fossils unearthed in Shishi sea area, including ancient rhombodonta, Tetrastigma, etc. Among them are the pottery of Han Dynasty, the tomb bricks of Jin Dynasty and the pottery models of Five Dynasties.

For example, in the tomb of the fourth year of Chengsheng (555 AD) of the Liang Dynasty in Fengze District, the half wall of the tomb chamber and the burial objects can be clearly seen. Visitors can see the original shape of the tomb and have a more intuitive understanding of the tomb culture at that time. Many lights are inductive. As soon as someone walks by, the lights in the display cabinet will light up slowly. In the "grand style of QUANNAN", the theme of "waves in the Taiwan Strait and integration of the two sides" is highlighted, and cultural relics related to Zheng Chenggong, the national hero, and Shi Lang, the commander of Fujian Navy in the Qing Dynasty are displayed.
