Development history
The museum was officially opened free of charge on June 1, 2011. The museum was founded by Zhao Li, an entomologist in China, in 2004. It was formerly known as West China Entomological Museum, and was renamed Huaxi Entomological Museum in 2010. In May 2013, the museum was rated as a national third-class Museum by the State Administration of cultural relics, becoming one of the only 11 national museums among the 982 private museums in China.
In September 2018, it was identified as a national second-class Museum.
