Brief introduction to Li Gongdi
Li Gongdi was built by Li chaoqiong in 1889.
Li chaoqiong (1817-1909), a native of Hejiang, Sichuan Province, was the magistrate of Yuanhe County for two years. At that time, the water of Jinji Lake was vast and dangerous. Fishermen went back and forth, and every time they did something unexpected, Li Gong sympathized with it. He spent 14500 liang of silver to build a dike to kill the water. The dike is about five li long, with thousands of willows. After that, the wind was sheltered and the water was stagnant. There was no danger in the way, so it was easy to travel. The people sing praises to their ears and call it ligongdi.
There are Memorial pavilions at both ends of the levee, with the monument of "Ligong levee" erected inside. As time goes by, the pavilion has collapsed and the inscription is still there. In the prosperous age of Kaiming Dynasty, the levee was rebuilt, and a pavilion was built. The original stele was placed in it. In order to record the history and honor the virtue of Duke Li.
