At the beginning of the school

In 1952, the Ministry of Education decided to establish the Central Institute of physical education in accordance with the directive spirit of the State Council on "focusing on the cultivation of industrial construction talents and school teachers, developing specialized schools, rectifying and strengthening comprehensive universities". In July of the same year, the Preparatory Office of the Central Institute of physical education was established in Beijing xiannongtan stadium. In August 1953, the Ministry of higher education, the Ministry of education, the Ministry of Finance and the State Sports Commission jointly announced that "the Central Institute of physical education will be established in Beijing on the basis of the Physical Education Department of Beijing Normal University".

Cultural Revolution

On June 11, 1966, Beijing New City appointed a working group of the State Sports Commission to the hospital. The Revolutionary Committee of Beijing Institute of physical education was established. Since then, the college has entered a period of turmoil.

In March 1967, the rebels seized the power of the party, government, finance and culture in the yuan and announced the establishment of the yuan Revolutionary Committee. On December 11, 1993, it was officially renamed Beijing Sport University with the approval of the State Education Commission.

From September 15 to September 16, 2018, the kick-off meeting of the national key R & D program of "Winter Olympics of science and technology" led by Beijing Sport University was successfully held in Nanjing.

In November 2018, eight domestic universities, including Beijing Sport University, jointly launched the "collaborative innovation platform for undergraduate major construction of Marxist theory" in Lanzhou University to realize the integration of cross regional education resources.

Discipline construction

The postgraduate education of Beijing Sport University began in 1953. It is the first institution in China to train postgraduates majoring in sports. It is the first institution to award doctoral degree and the first batch of master's degree in the national sports system. It is also the first university approved by the degree Office of the State Council to recruit doctoral and master's degree students from overseas. In December 2002, the State General Administration of sports officially approved the establishment of the Graduate School of Beijing Sport University.
