With the help of Chinese progressives, members of the provisional government of South Korea came to Hangzhou and Jiaxing in Zhejiang Province to continue their struggle. At that time, the activities of the temporary government officials were left in the Hubian village on Changsheng Road, Sixin square on Xueshi road and the second Qingtai hotel in Hangzhou. During the three years in Hangzhou, the provisional government of the Republic of Korea held a state conference and issued an independent party organ newspaper, which preserved the Anti Japanese forces and grew from small to large into an important member of the international anti fascist camp. Their struggle to resist Japan and restore the nation has been sympathized, supported and helped by the people of Hangzhou.
In order to commemorate this period of history, the Hangzhou municipal government spent five years to build a memorial hall of the former Hangzhou site of the provisional government of the Republic of Korea in Hubian village, 55 Changsheng Road, which was used as the office of the former Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. The museum has been expanded three times and divided into three exhibition halls to restore the original appearance of the 1930s.
