Museum of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Museum is located in the east of Nanning National square. It is a provincial (autonomous region) level comprehensive historical museum and the only national first-class Museum in Guangxi.

There are more than 50000 cultural relics in the museum, including 152 first-class cultural relics and 1791 second-class cultural relics. Guangxi is one of the main distribution areas of ancient bronze drums. There are many kinds of bronze drums. Therefore, our museum has become the museum with the largest collection of bronze drums in the world, with more than 360 collections. Among them, one side of the Beiliu bronze drum, with a surface diameter of 165 cm and a weight of 299 kg, is known as the "king of bronze drums". In addition, there are also handaxes from 800000 years ago, and the collection of national cultural relics is rich and colorful.

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Museum is located in the east of Nanning National square, covering an area of about 60 mu. It is a provincial (autonomous region) level comprehensive museum of history and art, and a national first-class Museum. There are more than 50000 cultural relics in the Museum of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, including 152 first-class cultural relics, 1791 second-class cultural relics and 3867 third-class cultural relics.

Historical evolution

In 1934, Guangxi Provincial Museum, the predecessor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Museum, was founded in Nanning. At that time, it had begun to take shape. It had a fixed library, more than 20000 pieces of cultural relics, a large number of stone rubbings, various old and new books and materials, and held various exhibitions.

After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, the Guangxi Provincial Museum was relocated several times, resulting in serious losses of cultural relics, and the name of the museum was changed many times. It was not until the founding of new China that the cultural and Museum undertakings in Guangxi recovered.

On May 1, 1956, the Guangxi provincial museum building was completed, announcing the completion of the reconstruction work.

In March 1958, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was established, and the Guangxi Provincial Museum was changed into the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Museum.

In 1978, the exhibition building used today was completed.

Venue layout

The Museum of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has a total area of 32757.8 square meters. The exhibition building is a large cuboid building with the characteristics of the dry column architecture of the Zhuang nationality. It integrates exhibition and business office. The first to second floors are used for exhibition and the third floor for office. Behind the exhibition building is a 24000 square meter national cultural relics garden, which was built in 1988. In the garden, there are huge bronze drum carvings, town side cannons, Zhuang "Ganlan", Yao bamboo house, Miao stilted building, Dong Drum Tower, Dong fengyuqiao, Maonan folk houses, etc., as well as oil pressing, rice milling, paper making and other folk handicraft workshops. Collection

There are more than 50000 cultural relics in the Museum of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, including 152 first-class cultural relics, 1791 second-class cultural relics and 3867 third-class cultural relics. The museum also has a large collection of books and materials, including more than 30000 thread bound ancient books. On September 11, 2014, the "award winning works exhibition of the 8th China ASEAN Youth Art Creation Competition" was held in the Museum of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which is an important activity of the 2014 China ASEAN cultural exchange year. The competition received 1533 works of ink, watercolor, calligraphy, photography, oil painting and print from the youth of China and ASEAN countries, and 234 works were exhibited in the exhibition This is an award-winning work.

Opening Hours

9:00-17:00 every Tuesday to Sunday (stop invoice at 16:00 and clear at 16:50). It is closed all day every Monday (except national holidays) for renovation.

Visit method

In order to ensure the safety of cultural relics and the quality of visits, the museum implements the method of free tickets, and issues 3000 free tickets to the society at the maximum limit every day. The invoice time is from 9:00 to 16:00 on each open day.
