Founded in 2000, Macao University of science and technology is the first private university established after the handover of Macao sovereignty to the people's Republic of China. It offers courses that can be awarded doctorate, master's degree, bachelor's degree and diploma. The main campus of the university is located in Weilong Road, taitsai, Macao.

Founded in 2000, Macao University of science and Technology (English: Macao University of science and technology, must) is the largest comprehensive university in Macao. Professor Liu Liang, the current president, was elected as the first academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in Macao in November 2019, which is a major breakthrough in the discipline construction and high-level talent team construction of Macao University of science and technology.

Historical evolution

In March 2000, the chief executive of the Macao SAR government, Mr Ho Hau Wah, issued an executive order to establish the Macao University of science and technology, which has four colleges: the school of information technology, the school of administration and management, the school of law and the school of traditional Chinese medicine.

In 2001, with the approval and assistance of the Ministry of education, the Hong Kong and Macao Office of the State Council and the Ministry of public security, Macao University of science and technology enrolled students from 14 provinces and cities in the mainland.

On March 25, 2006, the University of science and technology hospital and the Institute of drug and health application were established

. In the same year, the ownership of Macao University of science and technology was transferred to the foundation of Macao University of science and technology.

In September 2007, the school of international tourism of Macao University of science and technology was established and renamed as the school of hotel and tourism management of Macao University of science and technology in February 2012.

In January 2008, the school of Health Sciences of Macao University of science and technology was established.

In September 2008, the school of Humanities and arts of Macao University of science and technology was established

On November 24, 2008, the medical and health continuous training center of School of Health Sciences of Macao University of science and technology was officially opened.

On March 27, 2010, Macao University of science and technology held a grand celebration of its 10th anniversary. In the New Asteroid nomenclature bulletin issued by the international asteroid center, the asteroid with international number 200003, discovered by Zijinshan Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on May 19, 2007, was approved by the international small planet center and the international asteroid Nomenclature Committee and officially named as "Australasian star"

On December 14, 2010, the Institute of space science of Macao University of science and technology was established.

On January 25, 2011, the State Key Laboratory for quality research of traditional Chinese medicine (Macao University of science and Technology) was officially established with the approval of the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China.

On December 6, 2011, Macao University of science and technology and Agilent Technology Co., Ltd. established a joint laboratory of liquid chromatography / mass spectrometry

On February 20, 2012, the State Key Laboratory of respiratory diseases of Macao University of science and technology and Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Medicine Technology Co., Ltd. jointly established the Guangdong Macao Joint Research Center for new drugs of respiratory pathogens

On January 1, 2014, the school of administration and management of Macao University of science and technology was renamed Business School of Macao University of science and technology.

On November 19, 2014, the Key Laboratory of lunar and Planetary Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Macao University of science and technology, was established. The laboratory is the first key partner Laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences set up overseas and an important platform for China's space science research program

On March 31, 2016, Macao Joint Laboratory of environmental science and environmental management was officially established, which was jointly built by Macao University of science and technology and ecological environment research center of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

On June 30, 2016, the Law School of Macao University of science and technology officially joined the Asian Law Institute (Asli)

On September 19, 2016, the professional medical development center of School of Health Sciences, Macao University of science and technology was awarded the qualification of comprehensive skills development Accreditation Center by the Royal College of surgery, Edinburgh, UK

On December 6, 2016, Dr. Irvine Nell, Nobel Laureate in physiology or medicine, established the laboratory of Biophysics and traditional Chinese medicine of Dr. Irvine Nell in Macao University of science and technology, which is the first Nobel laureate laboratory in Macao.
