Located at No. 338, zhengben Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai, fashan nunnery was built in the late Qing Dynasty, with a history of more than 100 years. The comprehensive restoration work started in 1994 and was completed by the end of 1996. The main buildings are: Daxiong hall, Jialan hall, nianfo hall, sutra Pavilion, Gongde hall, Suzhai department and nizhongchafang. Along the road there are mountain gates, Qitang, etc. Flying angle double eaves, magnificent structure, Buddha solemn, temple solemn and quiet appearance.
Fashan nunnery has always been well-known in Wujiaochang area of Yangpu. During the ten-year catastrophe, the fashan nunnery was destroyed until 1994, when the district government rebuilt the original site according to the characteristics of the original buildings. Today's fashan nunnery covers an area of about 90 square meters, with the temple gate facing north. The temple's forehead was inscribed by master Zhenchan, the former president of the Buddhist Association.
There are not many temples in Shanghai, and even fewer nunneries. The most famous one is the fashan nunnery in Yangpu District.
On the first and fifteenth day of the lunar new year, there is a vegetarian meal, which is not provided to pilgrims at other times.
