Qiniang MA in Fucheng folk belief, also known as Qixing Niang, is regarded as the patron saint of children. In the past, there was a popular "rite of passage" in Taiwan, that is, when a child was 16 years old, he had to burn gold paper, Scripture clothes, and seven Niang Ma Pavilion in the temple of seven Niang ma. The ceremony of "leaving the bird mother Palace" (male) or "leaving the mother" (female) was used to show that the child had grown up and symbolized that he could begin to share family responsibilities and social responsibilities. Tainan's Kailong palace holds the "do 16" rite of passage on July 7 every year. Although in modern society, the symbolic meaning is greater than the practical meaning, there are still many parents in Tainan who take their children to the Kailong palace for the rite of passage on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month
Kailong Palace
Kailong palace, commonly known as qiniangjing, is located in the central and Western District of Tainan City, Taiwan Province. It was built in 1733 (the 10th year of Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty). It is the oldest temple in Taiwan. It is famous for the custom of being 16 years old. The road in front of the temple was named qiniangjing street in Qing Dynasty. During the Japanese occupation period, Dazheng town (today's Zhongshan Road) cut through this street. Today it is divided into 79 lanes and 82 lanes of Zhongshan Road. It still has the ancient meaning of narrow lanes.
