Cicheng, historically known as Jiangnan Water Town, is a city of literature. It has a long history, and its historic sites are as splendid as clouds. The cultural relics unearthed from Cihu site, Baziqiao site, Wuxing site and Tangshan site in 1986 show that more than 6000 years ago, there were human beings living and working in Cicheng. From the period of spring and autumn and Warring States (the ancient name of Ningbo) to the relocation of Cixi County in 1954, Cicheng has been a county seat for more than 2000 years. Cicheng ancient town is proud of four firsts: first, the first Jinshi. From the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, there were 519 Jinshi in Cicheng. Among them, there were three top scholars, one at the top of the list, and three at Tanhua. There were more than 1000 officials in the whole country. Since the Han Dynasty, more than 30 filial sons (daughters) have been honored by successive emperors, among which Dong an in the Han Dynasty, Zhang Wuxuan in the Tang Dynasty and sun Zhihan in the Song Dynasty are most famous. In the past, there were three ancestral halls for filial sons in Cixi (Cicheng is the county seat), so Cixi was also called Sanxiao township. During the period of the Republic of China, Cicheng Town was also called Xiaozhong town. Therefore, the local ethos and social virtues of Cicheng have a good tradition. Third, the number of academies in the past and now is the first. From the establishment of Derun Academy in the Three Kingdoms to Yuhu Academy in the Ming Dynasty to Cihu middle school, education has always been a basic project of Cicheng. It has cultivated a large number of calligraphers and painters, writers, financiers, industrialists, academicians and professors all over the country and even many countries in the world. For example, it has won the title of "Chinese Morgan" Tan Jiazhen, a famous writer and educator, and Ying Changqi, a famous industrialist, inventor of "Ying's chess rules", "sydx board code vocabulary", "big integer reading", are all from Cicheng.

Historical evolution
The origin of place names
Cicheng, built in the spring and Autumn Period 2500 years ago, was built for Gou Jian, king of Yue. It is located in Wangjiaba, southwest of Cicheng. It is called "Ju Yu" and "Ju Zhang" in history.
In the 26th year of Kaiyuan (738) of Tang Dynasty, Qi Han invited the imperial court to set up another Mingzhou (Ningbo) in the eastern part of the state, which was originally a county. The court appointed Fang Guan as the first magistrate. Fangxian ordered that the county government should be relocated to the place where Jiulong Xizhu is located. When he ascended the Fubi mountain in the north of Cicheng city and looked at the towering ancestral hall of Dong Xiaozi under the Northeast peak, he could not help but be moved by Dong An's deeds of "drawing water to serve his mother", so he changed the county name to "Cixi". After that, people used to call Cixi County "Cicheng" for short.
Although the title of "Ci city" appeared in the works of scholars in the song and Yuan Dynasties and recorded in the historical records of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the government still called it "Cixi", "county", "Yi City" and "county government". Cixi four townships people call Cicheng "Cixi", "Chengcheng" and "chengchengxiang". The other counties call Cicheng "Cixi", "Cixi County", "Cixi County governance" and "Cixi City". In the Republic of China, Cicheng was once divided into two towns, Xiaodong and Xiaoxi, which were called "Xiaozhong town".
As a county government, Cicheng is the heart of Cixi County. From ad 738 to 1954, it experienced more than 1200 years of wind and rain. There are also many other names and common names such as "cishui", "Xishang", "Xiaoxi", "Xiaoshui" and "sanxiaoxiang".
In October 1954, Cixi County government moved to sanbeihushan. As the former Cixi County seat, Cicheng was renamed "Cixi town" and later "Cicheng Town", which has been used up to now.
History of construction
The history of Cicheng is called Gou, gouyu and gouzhang. From the 26th year of Kaiyuan in Tang Dynasty (738 AD) to 1954, it was ruled by Cixi County for more than 1200 years.
The establishment of Ci city began at the time of Gou Jian (about 495 BC) in the Wu and Yue dynasties, and it was called Ju Zhang. The county government is located in the city and mountain by the Yuyao River, which serves as the barrier of Yue State.
In the 26th year of Kaiyuan (729 AD), Fangguan was ordered to move the county to the south of fubishan and dredge the Kaihu lake to irrigate the suburbs of the city. Dong An's mother, a famous Confucian in the Han Dynasty, suffered from many diseases and liked the water of the Dayan river. She built a room for her mother to wait, and took the water for her mother to drink. Her mother's disease gradually healed. Therefore, the famous county was called Cixi, belonging to Mingzhou.
Cixi used to belong to Mingzhou. In the 14th year of Hongwu, it was changed to Ningbo Government to violate the taboo of Ming Dynasty. It had jurisdiction over Yin, Cixi, Fenghua, Dinghai (Zhenhai) and Xiangshan five counties. Later, in xianfengjian of Qing Dynasty, changguowei (Zhoushan Islands) was changed to Dinghai, and the original Dinghai was changed to Zhenhai, which was six counties of Ning.
In 1418, the magistrate of Cixi County lost his County seal and asked the imperial court to recast the new seal.
During the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, Cixi County was invaded by Japanese pirates. Cixi City was built to actively defend against the invasion of Japanese slaves. In the 15th year of Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, it was rebuilt. The city was demolished in 1937.
In May 1949, Cicheng was liberated and the people's political power was established. Jiefang Road is divided into Xiaodong and Xiaoxi towns. In October 1954, Cixi County government moved to Hushan town of Yuyao county at that time (now Hushan street of Cixi City). The old Cixi was renamed "Cixi town" and belonged to Yuyao county at that time. In 1958, it was transformed into a people's commune, the 20th brigade of Dongfeng people's commune. In 1959, it was transformed into a Cicheng commune. In the same year, it was transformed into a Cicheng Town. In October 1960, it was restored to be under the jurisdiction of Ningbo City. In October 1984, the former CiDong township was merged into Cicheng Town and put under the jurisdiction of Jiangbei District, Ningbo City. It is the largest town in the district. In May 1992, Yunhu Township and Miaoshan Township were assigned to Cicheng Town.
