Berlin Temple is located in the east of Yonghe palace in Dongcheng District. It is one of the Eight Temples in Beijing. It was built in 1347, the seventh year of Yuan Dynasty and rebuilt in 1447, the twelfth year of Ming Dynasty. The temple faces south from the north, and the main buildings are all on a north-south central axis. From south to north, there are five courtyards: Shanmen, Tianwang hall, YuanJu xingjue hall, Daxiong hall and Weimo Pavilion. The East and west sides of the central axis are the auxiliary halls. The layout of the whole temple is neat and rigorous, and all the buildings are built on tall masonry platforms. Daxiong hall is the main building of the whole temple. There is a huge horizontal plaque hanging in the middle of the eaves, which reads "eternal Berlin", which is an autograph of Kangxi's 60th birthday. The temple once kept the only preserved version of the Dragon Sutra in China, which collected the works of famous monks and Buddhist Studies in the yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Many historical materials that are not contained in the branch books can be traced here.
