Bing Xin's former residence

Located in Chenggong County in the suburb of Kunming, bingxinmolu is a Chinese style courtyard with civil structure. During the Anti Japanese War, Bing Xin and her husband Wu Wenzao, together with their son Wu Ping and daughter Wu Bing, lived in "Mo Lu" for three years from the beginning of 1938 to the end of 1940 when they were teaching in Chenggong No.1 middle school. For a time, this courtyard became a gathering place for cultural celebrities such as Mei Yiqi, Dai Shiguang, Chen Da and students of Southwest Associated University. Bing Xin wrote his essay "a trial of writing in the Muru" here and published it in the Ta Kung Pao of Hong Kong.

Jiangyin former residence

The former residences of Wu Wenzao and Bingxin were built in 1901. The original houses had three compartments on both sides. Due to disrepair, the roof collapsed, the walls deformed and the beams decayed. A few days ago, Jiangyin City renovated the former residences of Wu Wenzao and Bingxin in Xiagang Town, which will be built into a humanistic landscape and patriotic education base. On the basis of maintaining the original style, technology, materials and structure, the former residence will be repaired by means of overhauling.

The former residence of Wu Wenzao and Bingxin, two famous modern Chinese scholars and writers, in Xiagang Town, Jiangyin, Wuxi, has been renovated. At present, the main body has been restored to its original historical appearance. The next renovation and expansion will reproduce the style of Wu Wenzao and Bingxin's living quarters. The project has been included in the protection plan of Jiangyin's historic city. The whole project will be completed and opened to the public before the end of June 2007.

Wu Wenzao, a native of Xiagang, Jiangyin, is a famous Chinese sociologist and ethnologist. His wife Bing Xin is a famous modern Chinese woman writer and children's writer. Wu Wenzao graduated from Tsinghua University in his early years and participated in the May 4th movement. Later, he studied sociology at Columbia University and received a doctorate. He was awarded "the best foreign student in the University". Later, he became one of the founders of Chinese sociology and Chinese ethnology. The famous Wu Wenzao cultural Anthropology award in China was named after him. Bing Xin's original name is Xie WANYING. She has prose collections such as "send to the little readers", "we wake up spring", "praise of cherry blossom", etc. her works have been translated into many foreign languages and published, which has a wide influence at home and abroad.

The former residence of Wu Wenzao and Bingxin is located in the east of Xiagang Town, Jiangyin City. There are three main houses with brick and wood structure. This old house of Wu family, built in the late Qing Dynasty, is their marriage house in that year, and is also a witness of the love of this loving couple who have been in the same boat for 56 years. Their half life fate and one life relationship have always been a good story in the history of modern Chinese literature. Ms. Bing Xin's "my wife - Wu Wenzao" has detailed their love story of sharing joys and sorrows.

At the beginning of 2007, Xiagang Town, Jiangyin, in accordance with the principle of repairing the old as before and restoring the original appearance, specially invited the local elderly to recall the relevant situation of Wu Wenzao's and Bingxin's former residences, described the old appearance of their former residences, and repeatedly demonstrated the repair plan. It is expected that the whole project will be completed by the end of June this year.
