Guangdong Vocational College of agriculture, industry and commerce, formerly known as Guangdong agricultural reclamation machinery school founded in 1952, started to hold college education in 1984 and transformed into a vocational and technical college in 2000. For more than half a century, the college adheres to the school running concept of people-oriented, strong school with characteristics, realistic innovation and harmonious development. Based on the agricultural reclamation, facing Guangdong and serving the society, the college has trained more than 40000 professional and technical talents and management talents for various enterprises and institutions, and currently has more than 18000 full-time students. In 2005, it accepted the national evaluation of talent training in Higher Vocational Colleges and was recognized as an excellent college. In 2012, it was determined by the Provincial Department of education as the construction unit of the construction project of Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges in Guangdong Province.

The main campus of the college is located in Tianhe District of Guangzhou City, which is at the forefront of reform and opening up. At present, it has a pattern of one school and three districts. The east campus is located near the Olympic Center of Guangzhou, and the north campus is located in Zengcheng City of Guangzhou. The college covers an area of 1208 mu, with a construction area of 462924 square meters and a collection of more than 1 million books. At present, there are teaching and training institutions such as Department of tropical crops, Department of management, Department of business, Department of Finance and economics, Department of art, Department of foreign languages, Department of computer, Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, School of international exchange, College of adult education, etc., and scientific research institutions such as Tropical Crops Research Institute, vocational and Technical Education Research Institute, Computer Application Research Institute, communication technology research institute, ideological and Political Education Research Institute, etc. The college is also the South China Agricultural Reclamation training center of the Ministry of agriculture.

At present, the college has a total of 58 majors (directions), including crop production technology major and specialty group, agricultural product quality detection major and specialty group, and logistics management major (agricultural product logistics direction) as the key specialty construction project of Guangdong provincial model higher vocational colleges; "green food processing and management" major as the teaching reform pilot major of the Ministry of education; "Food processing technology", "Accounting Computerization", "marketing" and "computer multimedia technology" are the demonstration construction majors in Guangdong Province; "crop production technology" and "marketing" have been approved as the projects to enhance the development ability of professional service industry in Higher Vocational Colleges supported by the central government; "Accounting and audit", "quality inspection of agricultural products" and "electronic information engineering technology" were selected as the key cultivation majors of provincial higher vocational education. Marketing major led the establishment of "Guangdong Higher Vocational Education Business Management Professional Teaching Steering Committee", hotel management major led the establishment of "Guangdong Higher Vocational Education Tourism Professional Teaching Steering Committee". There are more than 11800 square meters of training places in the school, including one national training base for higher vocational education, three provincial training bases for higher vocational education, and more than 900 off campus training bases.

The college has a team of teachers with sufficient quantity, reasonable quality and structure, including one national excellent teacher, one provincial famous teacher, five excellent teachers in southern Guangdong, 14 with senior professional title and 125 with deputy senior professional title. It has built one national excellent course, nine provincial excellent courses and one provincial high-quality ideological and political course, won one first prize and one second prize of provincial teaching achievement, and undertaken 25 teaching reform projects above the provincial level.

The college enrolls students in 17 provinces and autonomous regions, including Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Shandong, Hebei and Xinjiang. The graduates are welcomed by employers, and the overall employment rate of graduates has been in the forefront of colleges and universities in the province for many years.

The college pays attention to international cooperation and exchange. At present, it has cooperative projects with Edexcel, F + U education group and Bolton University. The BTEC education project between the college and Edexcel is a pilot project of Sino British vocational education cooperation in Guangdong Province, which has been incorporated into the unified enrollment of the whole province since the autumn of 2004. The British side confirmed that it is the best BTEC model education institution in China at present. Many international cooperation projects provide students with a variety of choices for international internship, employment and further study.

The college attaches importance to quality education, pays attention to the cultivation of students' innovative thinking and practical ability, and promotes the coordinated development of morality, intelligence, sports, beauty and labor. Campus Academic Festival, art festival, sports meeting and so on attract the majority of students to participate. At present, there are 6 kinds of student publications and more than 60 professional associations. Our college has won many awards in all kinds of sports competitions, especially in the 7th and 8th college games of Guangdong Province, and won the first place in the total number of gold medals, the first place in the total number of medals and the first place in the total score of track and field in group C (higher vocational colleges); from 2007 to 2011, we won the good results of the team champion of the junior college group in the track and field competition of Guangdong Province for five consecutive years. At the 2010 Asian Games and the Asian Paralympic Games, our teachers and students won 6 collective honors and 454 individual awards.

The college has successively won the titles of "advanced unit of Vocational Education in Guangdong Province", "advanced collective of teachers' morality construction in Guangdong Province" and "civilized unit of Guangdong Province", and the trade union of the college has won the honorary title of "national model worker's home".
