Zhejiang Institute of foreign languages, formerly known as Zhejiang Institute of education, is a provincial undergraduate college. The school consists of humanities, science and engineering, education science and management, art, information, vocational education, foreign languages, economy and trade, resources and environment, sports and other colleges and Zhejiang Qiuzhi college, with more than 50 specialties. The school also has provincial education administrative cadre training center, provincial primary and secondary school teacher training center, provincial primary and secondary school computer teacher training center and other educational institutions. In recent years, the scale of the school has been expanding, and there are nearly 20000 students in all kinds of academic education. Among them, the proportion of ordinary full-time college students is increasing year by year. Continuing education is in full swing, with an annual training volume of 3000 people. On February 3, 2010, the Ministry of Education issued the "announcement on the establishment of new colleges and universities in 2010 and the formal establishment of colleges and universities at the end of the preparation period", which changed the name of "Zhejiang Institute of education" to "Zhejiang second normal university". The school has 512 teaching staff, including 344 professional and technical personnel, 95 teachers with senior titles, accounting for 45% of the total number of teachers, and 49% of the total number of teachers with graduate education, which is in a leading position among similar colleges in the province. The school is located in the beautiful West Lake, quiet environment, good teaching conditions. With a total construction area of nearly 60000 square meters, the campus has a first-class library, teacher training building and student apartment. The asset value of teaching instruments and equipment is nearly 30 million yuan. It has advanced multimedia and microteaching facilities. The library has a rich collection of books and complete functions.
The University publishes and publishes Journal of Zhejiang Institute of education, teaching monthly (middle school edition), teaching monthly (primary school edition), politics teaching, primary school students' world and other newspapers, with a strong academic atmosphere. The school attaches great importance to foreign exchanges, and gradually expands educational exchanges with countries (at home and abroad). It has established long-term friendly cooperative relations with many well-known universities and educational institutions in Germany, Britain, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
In recent years, the whole school staff seize the opportunity of education development, emancipate the mind, forge ahead, and have made a breakthrough in the further development of the school. In 2002, the provincial people's government issued an approval document, which agreed to create conditions for the university to transform the existing adult undergraduate colleges into ordinary undergraduate colleges; agreed that the university should choose suitable plots to build a new campus, with 6000 full-time students in the near future and 15000 in the long term, which should be planned once and implemented step by step; the school now undertakes the tasks and related tasks of teacher training and cadre training of primary and secondary schools in the province Our policy remains unchanged. The provincial government's approval points out the direction for the school's construction and development, and makes the school enter a new stage of development. At present, the construction of Xiaoheshan new campus is in progress. In the near future, the university will become a new type of comprehensive education university with all its characteristics and influence, striving to make greater contributions to the economic construction and social development of the whole province. On April 15, 2010, the Ministry of Education approved to change its name to "Zhejiang Institute of foreign languages".
After upgrading, Zhejiang Institute of education changed its name to Zhejiang Institute of foreign languages, with 7000 full-time students. The college plans to open about 20 undergraduate majors by 2015. This year, five undergraduate majors will be set up, including Chinese language and literature, mathematics and applied mathematics, English, computer science and technology, and musicology. The person in charge of the college said that in the future, in addition to adhering to the traditional characteristics of primary and secondary school teacher education and training, it will take the cultivation of foreign language and foreign trade talents suitable for Zhejiang's economic needs as the main development direction.
