Guangdong Normal University of technology is a provincial full-time undergraduate college with the right to confer master's degree, which is subordinate to the Education Department of Guangdong Province. The college, formerly known as Guangdong University for nationalities, was founded in 1957. It began to recruit undergraduates in 1977. In 1998, with the consent of the people's Government of Guangdong Province and the approval of the Ministry of education, it was renamed as Guangdong Vocational and technical normal college. In 2002, it was renamed as Guangdong Technical Normal College. In 2002 and 2005, the former Guangdong Machinery School, the former Guangdong Economic Management Cadre College and Guangdong finance and Trade Management Cadre College were merged into our college. In 2006, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a master's degree awarding unit. The college is qualified for admission of international students.

The orientation of the college is to face, serve and lead vocational education. The main task is to train teachers for all kinds of vocational colleges at all levels in Guangdong Province, and become the scientific research information center and industrial training center of Guangdong Province. At the same time, the college still undertakes the task of ethnic higher education and continues to train all kinds of talents for ethnic minority areas.
