Hunan University of traditional Chinese Medicine

Founded in 1934, it was named Hunan national medical college. In 1960, it was changed into Hunan College of traditional Chinese medicine. In 1990, the former Hunan University of science and technology was incorporated into Hunan College of traditional Chinese medicine. In 2002, Hunan Academy of traditional Chinese medicine merged with Hunan College of traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2006, it was renamed Hunan University of traditional Chinese medicine with the approval of the Ministry of education. In 2012, the school entered a enrollment sequence. At present, the school and Hunan Institute of traditional Chinese medicine implement the management system of school hospital integration.

At present, the school has two campuses, namely, Hanpu and Dongtang, with a total area of 1393 Mu and a building area of 470000 square meters. At present, there are 3 directly affiliated hospitals, 10 non directly affiliated hospitals and 2 school run joint ventures. The university has 16 colleges, 1 Department and 16 research centers (institutes). The total number of students is 36712, including 1587 graduate students, 17722 full-time undergraduates, 572 junior college students, 16735 adult education students and 96 international students. The school library has a collection of 1.091 million books and more than 25000 thread bound ancient books. At present, the university has set up 23 undergraduate majors, which are divided into five disciplines: medicine, science, engineering, management and literature. At present, there are four national characteristic specialty construction sites, seven provincial characteristic specialty construction sites, one national undergraduate specialty comprehensive reform pilot, and two provincial undergraduate specialty comprehensive reform pilot. The school has built a discipline system with medical disciplines as the main body and coordinated development of medical, science, engineering, management, arts and other disciplines. It has two post doctoral research stations of traditional Chinese medicine and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. At present, there are 1 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization point, 14 second-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 4 first-class discipline master's degree authorization points, 24 second-class discipline master's degree authorization points, 6 second-class disciplines independently set up doctoral degree authorization points, and 14 second-class disciplines independently set up master's degree authorization points.

The school actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation to expand external development space. Our university is one of the first batch of institutions of higher learning of traditional Chinese medicine to recruit students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other countries. In 2009, it was approved as the international cooperation base of traditional Chinese medicine of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. At present, there are 316 overseas Chinese students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. China Hunan International Acupuncture and moxibustion training center is located in our school, which has trained more than 1000 students for 30 countries and regions. Since 1990, the university has selected experts and professors to study in more than 20 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, and sent several groups of medical teams to Russia and other countries for disease prevention and treatment.
