North China University of water resources and hydropower

North China University of water resources and hydropower is a University jointly built by the Ministry of water resources and Henan Province, which is mainly managed by Henan Province. It is also a key university supported by Henan Province.

The predecessor of the school is the water conservancy School of the Ministry of water resources of the Central People's government, which was founded in Beijing in 1951. In 1954, it was changed into the Beijing water conservancy School of the Ministry of water resources. In 1958, Beijing hydroelectric power school and Beijing hydroelectric power correspondence college were merged to establish Beijing Institute of water resources and hydropower. In 1969, he moved to Yuecheng Reservoir, Cixian County, Hebei Province, and changed his name to Hebei University of water resources and hydropower in 1971. In 1977, he moved to Handan city and changed his name to North China University of water resources and hydropower in 1978. In 1990, it moved to Zhengzhou city to run a school, and in 2000, the reorganization system was transferred to Henan Province by the Ministry of water resources. In 2009, the Ministry of water resources and the people's Government of Henan Province signed a strategic agreement on jointly building north China Institute of water resources and hydropower. In 2013, it was renamed North China University of water resources and hydropower.

The school has two campuses, garden and Longzihu, covering an area of 2335.55 mu, with a building area of 87878700 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment exceeds 269 million yuan, and the library has a paper collection of 2076000 books. There are 20 teaching units such as water conservancy college and Electric Power College, and 31 research institutions such as Yellow River Science Research Institute and water culture research center. The water affairs training center of the Ministry of water resources, the supervision engineer training center of the Ministry of water resources and the Ministry of housing and urban rural development, and the Open Education Office of radio and TV University of the Ministry of water resources are located in the school. The university is one of the first batch of master's degree awarding units in China, and won the right to confer doctor's degree in 2013. In 2012, the University was selected into the basic ability construction project of colleges and universities in central and Western China, which is the second batch of "excellent engineer education and training plan" universities of the Ministry of education. On December 10, 2015, it was selected as the "BRICs network university". With the development goal of a high-level teaching and research-oriented university with distinctive characteristics, based on Henan Province and facing the whole country, the university continues to consolidate and enhance the basic status of undergraduate education, actively develops postgraduate education, vigorously carries out international cooperation in running schools, and provides strong talent resources and intellectual and technical support for regional economic and social development and national water conservancy and power undertakings.

The distribution of disciplines is reasonable. After 65 years of construction and development, the university has become a university with water conservancy and electric power as its characteristics, engineering as its backbone, science, engineering, management, agriculture, economics, arts, law, art and other disciplines coordinated development. At present, there are 64 full-time undergraduate majors, including 9 national and provincial excellent plan construction majors, 11 national and provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors, and 17 national and provincial characteristic specialty construction sites. Among them, the major of hydrology and water resources engineering has passed the engineering education professional certification of the Ministry of education, and the major of civil engineering and engineering management has passed the professional evaluation of the Ministry of housing and urban rural development. Remarkable achievements have been made in personnel training. The university enrolls students from all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities except Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. There are 23845 full-time undergraduate students, 1555 full-time Master's and doctoral students, and 4828 correspondence undergraduate students in continuing education.
