Lanzhou Institute of technology is a full-time ordinary higher engineering college in Gansu Province. The school's predecessor was the Peili technical school established by Louis Ailey, an international friend of New Zealand, in 1942. In 1958, it was transformed into the machinery manufacturing School of Gansu Province, which held secondary professional education. In 1962, it merged with five secondary technical schools of coal, electric power, light industry, heavy industry and posts and telecommunications to form the Gansu Industrial school. In 1974, it was renamed Lanzhou Industrial school. In 1989, it was rebuilt as Lanzhou Polytechnic College. In 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of education and Gansu Provincial People's government, it was transformed into Lanzhou Institute of technology. The school is located in Lanzhou City, the capital of Gansu Province, covering an area of 1692.29 mu. The building area of the school is 298200 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 455 million yuan, the total value of teaching equipment is 59.1669 million yuan, and the collection of books is 747300.
