Nankai University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China and the alma mater of Premier Zhou Enlai. Nankai University was founded in 1919 by Yan Xiu and Zhang Boling. During the Anti Japanese War, Nankai University, Peking University and Tsinghua University formed the world-famous southwest United University in Kunming, known as the "North Star of the University".
