North China Electric Power University

North China Electric Power University is a key construction University of the national "211 Project" directly under the Ministry of education. It is a national key university jointly constructed by the Ministry of education and the University Council composed of seven super large power enterprise groups, including the State Grid Corporation of China. The school was founded in 1958, formerly known as Beijing Electric Power University. In 1969, it moved to Hebei and later renamed as North China Electric Power University. In 1978, it was approved as a national key university by the State Council. In May 1995, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, North China Electric Power University and Beijing Institute of dynamic economics merged to form North China Electric Power University. The headquarters of the school is located in Beijing, with Baoding campus and integrated management.

The university has a complete set of specialties, complete teaching and scientific research conditions, doctoral, master and undergraduate education levels, and coordinated development with higher adult education. It has basically formed a discipline layout with distinctive characteristics, which is based on engineering and combines engineering, science, arts, economics, management and law. At present, the university has 2 national key disciplines, 10 provincial and ministerial key disciplines, 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of education, 6 provincial and ministerial key laboratories and 1 Beijing energy development research base (liberal arts); it has 3 post doctoral research stations and 14 doctoral programs (among which, electrical engineering, power engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, management science and engineering have first-class doctoral programs) The University covers an area of 1609 mu, with a total construction area of more than 790000 square meters and a total assets of more than 2.1 billion yuan, including nearly 300 million yuan of teaching and research equipment and 1.5 million books in the library.

There are 2835 faculty members and 1519 full-time teachers in the University, including 1 academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, 3 double employed academicians, 74 doctoral supervisors, 256 full-time professors and 407 associate professors. It has formed a teaching team with academicians and doctoral supervisors of the Chinese Academy of engineering as academic leaders, young and middle-aged teachers as academic backbone, good teachers' ethics, high level of teaching and scientific research, and excellent quality. At present, two teams of "power system protection and security strategic defense" led by Professor Li Chengrong and "power station equipment condition monitoring and failure prevention" led by Professor Liu Zongde have been selected into the innovation team of "Yangtze River scholars and innovation team development plan". In 2006, Professor Liu Jizhen won the second prize of national science and Technology Progress Award for "on line diagnosis and optimal control system of thermal power plant operation performance".

The University adheres to the development path of connotation development, and always takes the quality of personnel training as the foundation of the University. There are 35767 students, including 5316 graduate students, 18397 junior college students, 11996 adult students and more than 100 foreign students. The University's research achievements in many fields of energy and power related disciplines, mainly focusing on the national key disciplines - "power system and automation" and "thermal engineering", are at the leading level in China, and the research achievements in some fields have reached the international advanced or leading level, forming a distinctive feature of the combination of theoretical research and technical research, application development and industrial development The accumulated output value of technology intensive products formed by fruit transformation is nearly 2 billion yuan. In order to further rationalize the school running system, integrate resources, promote the integration of disciplines, and strengthen the overall management, the school department was changed to be located in Beijing in September 2005 with the approval of the Ministry of education. After the change of the school department, the school will continue to maintain the pattern of running schools in both places, deepen the substantial integration mode of running schools in both places, give better play to Beijing's advantages in talent attraction, international cooperation, information exchange, inter school exchanges, etc., promote multi-faceted cooperation, expand social influence, and promote the rapid development of the school.

In the face of the new situation, the university has established the development goal of "following the law of education, adapting to the needs of society, highlighting the characteristics of running a school, deepening the educational reform, realizing the leap forward development, and initially building our university into a domestic first-class, internationally influential, multi-disciplinary, research-oriented, international high-level university with distinctive characteristics" in 10 to 15 years.
