Henan Agricultural University has been running for more than 100 years. The school originated from Henan University founded in 1902, and has successively experienced three stages: Henan University, Henan University, Henan University, Henan University

Henan public agricultural school, national Fifth Sun Yat sen University, Henan University Agricultural College, etc. In 1952, when the national colleges and departments were adjusted, they were re established independently and renamed Henan Agricultural University. In December 1984, it was renamed Henan Agricultural University. In September 2009, it became the first Provincial Agricultural University jointly built by the Ministry of agriculture and the local provincial government. In November 2012, it became a University jointly built by the State Forestry Administration and the provincial government. In May 2013, Henan grain crop Collaborative Innovation Center led by the school was selected into the first batch of "2011 plan" of China.

There are 20 colleges under the University, including agriculture, engineering, science, economics, management, law, arts, medicine, education and arts. It has 1 national key discipline of first-class discipline, 16 provincial and ministerial key disciplines of first-class discipline, 6 post doctoral research mobile stations, 5 first-class discipline authorization points of doctoral degree, 25 doctoral programs, 80 master programs, 30 master programs of professional degree and 84 undergraduate programs (directions). The school has the national "2011 plan" Henan grain crop Collaborative Innovation Center, the National Wheat Engineering Technology Research Center, the State Key Laboratory of wheat and corn crop science jointly built by the Ministry of agriculture, the New Rural Development Research Institute, Zhengzhou National Corn improvement sub center, the Key Laboratory of crop growth and development regulation of the Ministry of education, the key open laboratory of rural renewable energy of the Ministry of agriculture, and the National Tobacco Research Institute 34 national, provincial and ministerial research centers, key laboratories and research bases.

The school has three campuses, Wenhua Road, Longzihu and Xuchang New District, covering an area of 5000 mu. It has built an information network environment of interconnection and full coverage between the two places and three campuses, as well as a digital campus comprehensive application information sharing platform and a national rural information comprehensive service platform.
