Historical evolution

Shanghai Vocational College of physical education is an institution of higher learning to train excellent athletes to climb the sports peak. It was founded in the early 1950s. It was originally named the East China sports training class. In 1955, it was renamed the competitive guidance department of Shanghai Institute of physical education. In 1960, it was expanded into the sports department of Shanghai Institute of physical education. During the cultural revolution, it was called the Shanghai sports team. In 1981, it was renamed the branch of Shanghai Institute of physical education. In 1984, it was renamed the branch of Shanghai Institute of physical education Shanghai Sports Vocational College. In October 2002, the college merged to form a new Shanghai Institute of physical education.

Basic information

Shanghai Sports Vocational College is an institution of higher learning that cultivates excellent athletes to climb the peak of competitive sports. It was founded in East China sports training class in the early 1950s. After several changes of its name, it was approved by the municipal government to establish Shanghai Sports Technical College in 1984. On December 11, 2007, it was approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's government to transform into Shanghai Sports Vocational College and become a full-time college The new college was officially established on January 12, 2008.

At present, the college has 521 teaching staff, including 170 coaches, 746 first-line athletes and 100 second-line athletes. The college has four campuses: Meilong, Xinzhuang, Dongfang Lvzhou and Shuidian. The college is headquartered in Meilong campus, address: 1333 Baise road. The college has six sports training centers (swimming sports center, track and field sports center, the first center of ball games, cycling and fencing Sports Center, table tennis and badminton sports center, water circuit sports training center), which have jurisdiction over 19 major sports and 184 minor sports. There are nine departments and sports hospitals.

As a base for training high-level athletes in Shanghai, the college has trained six Olympic champions and 100 world champions, 17 of whom have broken 37 world records. The athletes Liu Xiang and Yao Ming have become the name cards of Shanghai. Wang Liqin, Wu Minxia, Qian Zhenhua and others have also stepped onto the Olympic arena from here. Sun Haiping, Hu Hongfei, Chen Yunpeng, Jiang Yongyi and other famous coaches have trained a large number of world-class athletes for the motherland, such as Zhu Jianhua, Zhuang Yong, Yang Wenyi, Le Jingyi, Cao Yanhua, Wang Pengren, Shi Fangjing, Zhu Lin, etc., showing the style of Shanghai to the world and winning honors for China and Shanghai. Since 1997, the college has been rated as the civilized unit of Shanghai Sports Bureau for six consecutive times.

After the transformation and establishment of the vocational college, the college should continue to cultivate high-level competitive sports talents, at the same time, it should also strive to cultivate more sports talents with professional skills for the society. The work goal of the college in 2008 is to strive for as many athletes as possible to be selected into the Beijing Olympic Games, and strive to achieve good results in the Olympic Games, and complete the task of winning two gold medals; at the same time, strive to achieve good results in this year's national competition, comprehensively promote the national competitiveness of various events, and seize the commanding height of the 2009 National Games; and complete the three-year development plan after the transformation of the college with quality and quantity guaranteed According to the campus construction plan and work in 2008, the first batch of full-time students were successfully enrolled.

In particular, Yao Ming, the excellent Oriental basketball player of our college, joined the NBA as the number one player, which is not only the first in China, but also adds a brilliant stroke to the development of our college. Liu Xiang, a famous hurdler in our institute, was praised as "Shanghai's speed" for his outstanding performance in Athens Olympic Games.

The Olympic Games is the largest and highest level of competitive sports in the world. Our athletes have participated in five Olympic Games (23-27). The 23rd Olympic Games in 1984 was the first time for China to take part in the Olympic Games after China regained its legitimate seat in the International Olympic Committee. Our competitors lived up to expectations. Gymnast Li Xiaoping won the silver medal in pommel horse; Wu jianni won the third place on uneven bars; and high jumper Zhu Jianhua won the third place. In the 24th Olympic Games in 1988, our swimmers Yang Wenyi and Zhuang Yong won silver medals in 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle respectively. At the 25th Olympic Games in 1992, our swimmers Yang Wenyi, Zhuang Yong and Le Jingyi not only broke the Olympic Games and world records, but also achieved a breakthrough of zero gold medal in Chinese swimming events. Yang Wenyi and Zhuang Yong won the gold and silver medals in the 50m freestyle, Zhuang Yong won the gold medal in the 100m freestyle, and the 4x100m freestyle relay composed of Yang Wenyi, Zhuang Yong and Le Jingyi also won the gold medal He came in second. In the 26th Olympic Games in 1996, our swimmer Jiang Chengji won the fourth place in men's 50m freestyle and 100m Butterfly, and track and field athlete Sui Xinmei won the silver medal in women's shot put. Both of them created a new breakthrough for China's men's swimming and women's shot put in the Olympic Games. In the 27th Olympic Games in 2000, Wang Liqin, a table tennis player of our college, won the men's doubles Olympic champion for the first time in cooperation with Yan Sen of Jiangsu Province, and won the honor for the motherland and the people.

In all kinds of individual world competitions, the world championships and world cup also represent the highest level of competition. Up to now, our institute has won the world champion and broken the world record in 11 events with 42 athletes / 95 people, and a large number of elite athletes have emerged. Xu Yinsheng, the world champion of the 26th-28th World Table Tennis Championships, Li Furong, the world champion of the 4th World Table Tennis Championships, Lin Huiqing, the champion of the 31st women's singles and women's doubles, Cao Yanhua, the world champion of the 4th World Table Tennis Championships, Zhu Jianhua, the flying man of Tiantan who broke the world record three times in 1984, and Li Xiaoping, the first world champion of China's gymnastics pommel horse event Shi Meiqin, the diving queen who won the first world champion of China's women's springboard diving in the third (81) World Cup diving competition, and Zhang Ailing and Liu Xia, the famous badminton players who won the first World Championship in the first World Badminton Championships and World Cup They are not only the pride of the Chinese nation, but also the glory of our institute. At present, our hospital has 6 national coaches, professors and researchers, 54 associate professors, senior coaches and associate researchers, 96 lecturers and intermediate coaches and many scientific researchers. All of these provide a guarantee for the excellent results of the athletes in our hospital.

The college pays close attention to sports performance and strives to complete all the competition tasks assigned by the municipal Party committee and the municipal government. At the same time, it pays great attention to the cultural learning of students and athletes. At present, the college has two majors of physical education and sports training, providing teaching with college degree. According to the different needs of the society, we should cultivate more sports talents suitable for the needs of the times and the society.
