Anhui Zhong Ao Institute of technology is a public university affiliated to the Department of science and technology of Anhui Province. In 1998, Zhang Ping, executive vice governor of Anhui Province, led a government delegation to Australia and signed a science and technology and education cooperation agreement with the Western Australian government in Perth. The Department of science and technology of Anhui Province is responsible for the implementation of the project. Through negotiation, Anhui Science and technology training center and TAFE of Western Australia Central Government jointly established Anhui China Australia Institute of science and technology continuing education to introduce Australian vocational education mode and carry out science and technology education and training. In 2000, Anhui University began to recruit students for general higher education. In June 2003, approved by the people's Government of Anhui Province and reported to the Ministry of education for the record, Anhui China Australia Vocational College of science and technology was established on the basis of Anhui Science and Technology Training Center (founded in 1984) and Anhui Computing Center (founded in 1979).

The college is located in the central area of Hefei, at the intersection of the West first ring road and the North First Ring Road, with convenient transportation and beautiful campus environment.
