Shanxi University is located in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, which has a history of more than 2500 years. Its predecessor is Shanxi University, which was founded in 1902. Its long history can be traced back to Sanli Academy in Ming Dynasty, Jinyang academy and Lingde Academy in Qing Dynasty. In the early stage, Shanxi University was one of the important birthplaces of China's modern higher education, as well as the important town of Shanxi's Centennial culture, science and education. After 116 years of running the University, Shanxi University has always been rooted in the fertile soil of Chinese civilization. The university has a number of important discipline platforms represented by national key disciplines, national key laboratories, key laboratories of the Ministry of education, key research bases of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of education, engineering research center of the Ministry of education, and national and local joint laboratories. There are many famous teachers and celebrities, and the teaching results are remarkable. At present, there are 2095 full-time teachers and 999 teachers with senior titles.
