Honghe University is a provincial public comprehensive undergraduate college in Yunnan Province, which was established in April 2003 with the approval of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China.

The school is located in Mengzi City, the capital of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Southeast Yunnan Province. Mengzi city has a long history and rich cultural heritage. The school has a complete range of disciplines, including 13 Colleges: School of humanities, School of business, School of engineering, School of life science and technology, School of science, School of teacher education, School of physical education, School of mathematics, School of international studies, School of fine arts, School of foreign languages, School of music, School of political science and international relations. It has set up 40 undergraduate majors, covering nine disciplines, including arts, history, law, science, engineering, agriculture, economics, management and teaching.

The school covers an area of 1200 mu, with a total building area of 276000 square meters, teaching and scientific research equipment worth more than 55 million yuan, and the library has a collection of 581000 books. At present, there are 773 staff in Honghe University, including 591 full-time teachers, 184 teachers with deputy senior titles or above, accounting for 34% of full-time teachers, 297 teachers with doctor's and master's degrees, and more than 50% of full-time teachers with master's degree. The University's scientific research strength has been steadily improved, its service oriented to diversified development, and its ability to serve local economic and social development has been further enhanced. Taking the construction of key disciplines as a breakthrough, the university has established a number of advantageous and characteristic disciplines with basic development ability, obvious regional characteristics and obvious school characteristics.
