Fujian art vocational college is the only provincial public art college in Fujian Province, which is in charge of the Department of culture of Fujian Province, and is specialized in training talents of culture and art, such as music, fine arts, dance, drama, etc. it has a college degree education, and has 15 branches (classes) in all parts of the province.

Fujian Art Vocational College, formerly known as Fujian art college, was founded in July 1958. In 1960, with the approval of Fujian Provincial People's Committee (the predecessor of Fujian Provincial People's Government), it was upgraded to Fujian art college with undergraduate education. In 1962, due to temporary national difficulties, it was first adjusted to Fujian art school and Fujian opera school. During the cultural revolution, it was closed. In 1974, it was resumed On May 31, 2005, Fujian art vocational college was officially established with the approval of Fujian Provincial People's government.

The college has five major departments, including music department, fine arts department, dance department, social culture department and drama department, and six major majors, including three-year and five-year college level music performance (vocal music, instrumental music performance, Nanyin direction), art design, dance performance, cultural management, Performing Arts (hosting and broadcasting art, puppet performance direction) and opera performance There are more than ten art majors, including music, dance performance, mass culture and art, opera performance, tea culture and art, model performance, acrobatic performance, puppet performance, puppet production, Nanyin and quyi, at the level of three-year and six-year technical secondary schools. The college also undertakes adult college degree education and various art vocational training, forming college degree education and non professional education It is a multi-level art education system with its own characteristics.

The experimental art troupe of Fujian art vocational college is a platform for teachers and students to show their artistic talents by organizing cultural and artistic exchanges and performing activities at home and abroad. The social art level examination committee of Fujian art vocational college is one of the first batch of art examination institutions approved by the Ministry of culture.

The new campus of the college is located in the new area of sugarcane Town, Chengguan, Minhou County, Fuzhou City, adjacent to Tanshishan Museum. It is an ideal place for further study because of its rich culture, elegant environment and convenient transportation. Many well-known persons who are active in the literary and art circles inside and outside the province are graduates of our college, such as: Professor Yang Ming, President of Gulangyu Piano School of Central Conservatory of music and a famous pianist in China; Professor He Xian, director of International string music center of Shanghai Conservatory of music and a famous violinist in China; Chen Fenwu, chairman of Calligrapher Association of our province; Chen Yu, former chairman of Art Association of our province and a famous painter Zeng Jingping, Li Min, Chen Hongxiang, Zhou Hong, etc. won the plum blossom Award for traditional Chinese opera.
