Founded in 1952, Shenyang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics is one of the six undergraduate aeronautical Colleges under the former Ministry of aeronautical industry. It was formerly known as "Shenyang Aeronautical Technology School". After the development stages of "northeast first industrial school", "Shenyang aeronautical College", "Shenyang Aeronautical Technology College", it was officially renamed as "Shenyang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics" in March 2010.

"Aviation manufacturing process digitization" national defense key subject laboratory is one of 34 national defense key subject laboratories. General aviation key laboratory is a major discipline platform of Liaoning Province during the 12th Five Year Plan period. It has successfully developed three new energy aircraft. Among them, China's first electric two seater aircraft "Ruixiang" (rx1e) is one of the only four aircraft in the world that have been airworthiness certified according to ASTM standards, and the first electric light aircraft that has been issued airworthiness certification by CAAC Airplanes.
