Hainan Vocational and technical college is the first independent multidisciplinary higher vocational and technical college in Hainan Province, which belongs to the people's Government of Hainan Province. In 2002, the Ministry of education and the Ministry of Finance identified the college as the central financial key to support the construction of demonstration vocational colleges. In November 2003, it passed the evaluation of the Ministry of education and became one of the first batch of colleges in China to pass the evaluation of higher vocational talent training level of the Ministry of education. At present, the application of national model higher vocational colleges is being actively carried out.

The college is located in Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province, with beautiful environment and convenient transportation. The campus covers an area of 232 mu, with an area of more than 180000 square meters (the new Guilin Yang campus covers an area of 760 Mu and is under construction). It has a collection of more than 600000 books, 59 training and laboratories, and a total value of more than 35 million yuan of teaching equipment. There are more than 550 teachers in the whole hospital, of which 32% are teachers with professional and technical titles above deputy senior high, and 63% are "double qualification" teachers. Relying on industries and enterprises, the college has established one national training base, four provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 103 stable off campus productive training bases, ranking first in the province's higher vocational colleges. The college has Hainan French training center, the 53rd National Vocational Skill Appraisal Institute of Hainan Province, ATA licensing examination station, national unified appraisal point of e-commerce professional and other skill training appraisal institutions.

The college has nine teaching departments (departments) including information engineering, transportation engineering, civil engineering, biological science, economy and trade, applied foreign languages, tourism, art and public courses. Among them, animal husbandry has become a national top-quality specialty in higher vocational education; automobile application technology has become one of the first batch of teaching reform pilot specialties in Hainan Province; three courses of network marketing practice, jewelry identification, animal nutrition and feed have been rated as national top-quality courses in higher vocational education; five courses of flower and horticulture post technology have been rated as Hainan Province Provincial higher vocational quality courses. There are more than 8600 full-time vocational college students. In 2007, the employment rate of graduates was 92%. In 2008, the students were recruited from 24 provinces and cities in China.

The college attaches great importance to the cooperation and exchange at home and abroad, and has successively cooperated with France's Rene orfre Tourism Vocational College, Canada's Prince Edward Island Dutch College, Tianjin University, Boao Forum for Asia, Haikou agriculture, industry and trade (LUONIUSHAN) Co., Ltd., FAW Hainan Mazda Automobile Factory, Hainan refining and Chemical Co., Ltd., Hainan Nanshan Cultural Tourism Development Company, etc We need to cooperate with universities, enterprises and institutions at home and abroad to cultivate talents.
