University of Electronic Science and technology

The University of Electronic Science and technology is a key construction university directly under the Ministry of education and under the national "985 Project" and "211 Project". It is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, which is known as the "land of abundance" and the economic, cultural and transportation center of Western China.

Chengdu Institute of telecommunication engineering, formerly known as Chengdu Institute of telecommunication engineering, was founded in 1956 under the personal deployment of Premier Zhou Enlai, by the merger of telecommunication engineering related majors of Jiaotong University (now Shanghai Jiaotong University and Xi'an Jiaotong University), Nanjing Institute of Technology (now Southeast University) and South China Institute of Technology (now South China University of Technology). It was listed as a national key university by the CPC Central Committee in 1960 and established by the CPC Central Committee in 1961 The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) designated it as one of the seven defense industry universities. In 1988, it was renamed as the University of Electronic Science and technology. In 1997, it was identified as one of the first batch of key universities under the "211 Project". In 2000, it was transferred from the former director of the Ministry of information industry to the director of the Ministry of education. In 2001, it entered the ranks of key universities under the "985 Project". After 60 years of construction, the university has formed a multi-level and multi type talent training pattern from undergraduate to postgraduate, doctoral and so on. It has become a multi-disciplinary research university covering the whole electronic discipline, with electronic information science and technology as the core, engineering as the main body, science and engineering infiltration, and coordinated development of science, engineering, management and culture.

The school has three campuses: Qingshuihe, Shahe and jiulidi, covering an area of more than 4000 mu. It has a modern digital library with rich collection and a number of modern sports venues with complete facilities. The school has a beautiful environment, green trees, long lake and sea of ginkgo. It is an ideal place for reading and studying.

The basic task of the university is to cultivate "elite talents with rich basic knowledge, strong professional ability, high comprehensive quality, international vision and sense of social responsibility". At the same time, the University vigorously carries out Sino foreign cooperation in running schools and outstanding engineers program, and focuses on cultivating world information industry and Engineering talents, as well as outstanding high-level engineering technology and management talents. The university has 24 Colleges (departments) and 66 undergraduate majors, 14 of which are national characteristic specialty construction sites. At present, there are more than 33000 full-time students, including more than 12000 doctoral and postgraduate students. Students with comprehensive quality, solid professional knowledge, strong ability, sufficient stamina and other distinctive characteristics have been widely praised by all walks of life and employers. The employment rate of students has been maintained at more than 95%. In 2016, the proportion of undergraduates studying at home and abroad was 60%, of which 15% went abroad. Chengdian students were all over the world.

The school encourages and supports students to actively participate in scientific and technological innovation, culture and art and social practice activities, and constructs a "inclusive" scientific and technological innovation system for students. Students are active in the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Competition, "Challenge Cup" National Undergraduate extracurricular academic science and technology works competition, national undergraduate art competition, Asia Pacific undergraduate robot competition, American undergraduate mathematical modeling competition, international college debate competition, international genetic engineering machine competition and other domestic and international competitions, winning gold and silver with remarkable achievements.

The university has built a number of national, provincial and ministerial level excellent open courses and teaching materials, has a national college students' cultural quality education base, as well as 20 national education and teaching practice bases and demonstration centers, including national teaching base, experimental teaching demonstration center, virtual simulation experimental teaching center and engineering practice education center, and has won a number of national teaching achievement awards.

At present, the university has 2 national first-class key disciplines (including 6 second-class disciplines which are all national key disciplines) and 2 national key (cultivation) disciplines; 15 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points and 52 second-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points; 26 first-class discipline master's degree authorization points and 70 second-class master's degree authorization points, with engineering doctoral degree in the field of electronics and information There are 7 kinds of master's degree awarding rights including finance, translation, journalism and communication, pharmacy, Public Administration (MPA), Business Administration (MBA) and master of Engineering (including 13 engineering fields). There are 13 post doctoral mobile stations. In 2012, five first-class disciplines ranked in the top 10, among which electronic science and technology ranked first and information and communication engineering ranked second. According to the ESI data in March 2017, engineering, materials science, physics, computer science, chemistry, neuroscience and behavior entered the top 1% of the ESI, and engineering entered the top 1% of the ESI in July 2016.

The university takes "top sky, site and talent" as its scientific research orientation, and strives to build a scientific research framework of "three pillars" (military electronic research, basic research represented by various national funds, and applied technology research with enterprise cooperation as the main body). Since the 11th five year plan, the University has won 17 national awards, 239 ministerial and provincial awards, and published more than 36000 papers (Monographs) More than 6400 patents have been applied. The school vigorously implements the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents", with more than 3800 teaching staff, including more than 2300 full-time teachers and more than 500 professors. Up to now, the total number of outstanding national talents (not double counting) in our university has reached 200, including 9 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of engineering, 21 ieeefellows, 12 winners of the "ten thousand talents plan" (including 8 winners of the "youth top talent plan"), There are 121 "Thousand Talents Program" winners (including 62 "youth thousand talents program"), 37 "Yangtze River scholars", 18 "National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars", 2 "national famous teacher award", 10 "national talent project", 10 "National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars", and 3 "China Youth Science and Technology Award". The University vigorously implements the international development strategy, and has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 200 universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises in more than 50 countries and regions in the world. It has signed student exchange and joint training agreements with a group of well-known foreign universities, and has become a sister school with William and Mary College in the United States and POSCO University of technology in South Korea. Since 2010, the university has recruited more than 900 international students from 69 countries and regions around the world. The University hosts more than ten international academic conferences every year, and selects a large number of teachers to visit and study abroad, cooperate in research and participate in international conferences. Multinational companies such as Intel, Microsoft, Ti and IBM have set up joint laboratories, R & D centers and scholarship projects in our university to directly participate in the personnel training of our university. The University actively promotes the cultivation of international talents, and has established a strategic partnership with the University of Glasgow in the UK to jointly build Glasgow Institute of University of Electronic Science and technology; has established a strategic partnership with the second University of Montpellier in France to jointly build Confucius Institute; and has carried out IMBA and DBA cooperation projects with famous universities in the United States and Portugal.
