Hunan College of traditional Chinese medicine is a public full-time general college, which was upgraded by the Ministry of education in 2004 and managed by Hunan Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission and Hunan Provincial Department of education. It is located in Zhuzhou City, the mausoleum of Shennong, the first ancestor of the Chinese nation, and an important transportation hub in central and southern China. The new campus under construction is only 30 minutes' drive from Changsha, which is a real campus of traditional Chinese medicine in Hunan Province It is the main training base for practical and skilled talents.

Founded in 1959, the school has a history of more than 50 years. Now it covers an area of more than 900 mu (including the new campus of Yunlong Vocational Education City), with a total construction area of 208000 square meters. Campus environment is beautiful, camphor line, supporting the environmental facilities with traditional Chinese medicine as the main body, campus landscaping all use medicinal plants, with a strong cultural atmosphere of traditional Chinese medicine. Standard track and field field field, football field, basketball field, volleyball field, gymnasium, physical training room, table tennis room and auditorium and other cultural and sports facilities are complete. There are 1 directly affiliated hospital and 3 cooperative affiliated hospitals, among which the First Affiliated Hospital (Hunan Provincial Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine) is a class III first-class hospital, which is the first batch of demonstration hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine in China and excellent training bases in Hunan Province; there are 17 teaching hospitals. There are 5 on campus training centers, including clinical skills training center, nursing skills training center, rehabilitation and health care training center, pharmaceutical experimental teaching center, and basic medical experimental teaching center, and more than 110 off campus practice and training bases.

There are more than 10000 students, including 9400 full-time students. The motto of the school is "benevolence, sincerity, devotion and farsightedness", inheriting and carrying forward the spirit of Yan Emperor's pioneering spirit, seeking innovation and dedication for the people, and actively cultivating the campus culture with the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine. With the aim of "moral education first, ability first, skills prominent, comprehensive education and social service", we have trained a large number of skilled talents in medicine, nursing and rehabilitation for grassroots, Chinese medicine industry and rehabilitation health care institutions. The employment rate of graduates in this year has been maintained at more than 95%. In 2012, our university was awarded the excellent unit of "top leader project" in the employment of ordinary colleges and universities in Hunan Province. The one-time pass rate of nurse qualification examination was more than 99% for five consecutive years. In the past five years, the students have won the first prize in the national traditional Chinese medicine skills competition, acupuncture and massage skills competition, traditional Chinese medicine nursing skills competition, midwifery, rehabilitation and other professional competitions, and have won the group first prize and individual all-round, single first prize or the first place.

The school adheres to the school running concept of "quality based, talent based and characteristic based", actively explores the school running rules of traditional Chinese medicine colleges and universities, and establishes a curriculum system suitable for the development characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine specialty. Among them, the National Excellent Course "massage manipulation technology" has been successfully transformed into the national excellent resource sharing course, "medical psychology", "massage manipulation", "meridian and acupoint science" 》In 2015, our school successfully applied for the national vocational education inheritance and innovation of acupuncture and massage teaching resource database construction project. Tuina is a key subject of traditional Chinese medicine in the 12th Five Year Plan of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. In recent five years, it has undertaken more than 260 scientific research projects and won 31 scientific and technological achievements awards at the municipal (Department) level or above, including 1 national excellent scientific research achievement award and 5 provincial and ministerial excellent scientific research achievement awards; Nearly 1000 academic papers have been published by school teachers, 65 of which have been included and reprinted by SCL, CA, CSCD, csscl and National People's Congress, and 93 of which have been published in core journals.
