Changsha Medical College is a national Full-time Ordinary University (Second Edition), founded by Professor He Binsheng, a deputy to the National People's Congress, an advanced worker in the national education system, and an outstanding educator. Its predecessor was Xiangnan secondary health vocational and technical school. In 1996, it was renamed Xiangnan health secondary vocational school. In 1999, it was upgraded to Xiangnan medical college. In 2001, its headquarters moved to Changsha City. In 2005, it was upgraded to Changsha Medical College with the approval of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. In 2011, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China.
