Linyi university is a comprehensive university established by the state and under the direct management of Shandong provincial government. It is the key construction University of "Shandong characteristic famous university project". The school is located in Linyi City, Shandong Province, a famous historical and cultural city, a city of Commerce and logistics, a city of waterfront ecology, a red tourism city and a national civilized city. Its predecessor was Binhai Jianguo college, which was jointly established by Binhai District Committee of the Communist Party of China and the first branch of the Anti Japanese university in 1941. In the course of more than 70 years of running a school, the school has always adhered to the school spirit of "practicality" and the school motto of "clear meaning, sharp thinking, perseverance and far-reaching", constantly emancipated the mind, blazed new trails, realized the unconventional leap forward development, and trained 250000 graduates.

At present, the university has 19 secondary colleges, 9 scientific research institutes, 2 branch schools and 2 affiliated secondary schools, with 77 undergraduate majors, covering 10 university disciplines such as literature, science, engineering, art, management, education, law, agriculture, economics and history. The campus is designed by EDSA company of the United States integrating the campus planning concept of Stanford University of the United States. The school building area is 1.52 million square meters, among which the library, experimental center, art center and sports center are one of the largest buildings in China. The total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment of the university is 280 million yuan, with a collection of more than 4.3 million paper books, more than 750000 e-books, more than 35000 e-journals, and more than 14000 GB e-books and e-journals. The university has built an advanced digital campus system in China.

The university has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 60 universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Japan, France, India and other countries. It has established Sino foreign cooperative Golf college, software college, Linyi Graduate School of Suwon University, beauty salon education center of Suwon University of science and other institutions, and has carried out 9 Sino foreign cooperative education projects. Sinology, Chinese martial arts, Chinese national musical instruments, Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy, international economy and trade, translation, art design, business administration, journalism and other majors set up by the school recruit foreign students.
