Xinjiang Normal University was founded in December 1978, its predecessor is Urumqi first normal school and Xinjiang teacher training department. Over the past 30 years, Xinjiang Normal University has always insisted on running education by politicians and educators, striving to become a strong force supporting Xinjiang's educational cause and economic and social development. The school has three campuses, which are located at 102 Xinyi Road, 16 Kashi East Road and Guanyuan road Hot Spring campus. The campus covers a total area of 3181 mu, of which hot spring campus covers 2519 mu. The hot spring campus is a new campus of our university, with a total planning construction area of 1 million square meters and a total investment of about 1.8 billion yuan. It is planned to be completed in three phases in 5-8 years. The hot spring campus will be built into a harmonious blend of human and nature, architecture and nature, with poetic feelings in the campus and picturesque in the landscape. It is a first-class and Central Asian landmark building complex in Xinjiang. At present, the first phase of the project is about to start construction.

At present, the university has more than 25000 students at all levels, including 15449 ordinary college students and 1852 graduate students; 6729 adult continuing education students and 724 international students; the university has 19 colleges and 49 undergraduate majors; in 1993, the Ministry of Education authorized the university to enroll master's degree students, and in 2003 authorized the enrollment of professional master's degree students. At present, the university has 15 first-class discipline master's programs and 64 second-class disciplines There are five professional master's degree programs, including master of education, master of Chinese international education, master of Arts, master of physical education, master of translation, and master's degree program for university teachers. The master's and junior college majors cover nine disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, pedagogy, literature, history, science, engineering, and management. In 2010, the construction plan of new doctoral degree units in our university was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. In July 2011, the university successfully passed the mid-term inspection of the construction unit of the new doctoral degree award project. The school has formed a relatively complete education system including general undergraduate education, postgraduate education, adult continuing education, primary and secondary education and early childhood education.

The school has 16 professional basic and research laboratories, with a total construction area of 17216 square meters and a variety of teaching and scientific research equipment worth 125.88 million yuan.
