Zhejiang sports vocational and technical college is a provincial full-time higher vocational college, which is in charge of the Sports Bureau of Zhejiang Province, under the guidance of the Education Department of Zhejiang Province, with the characteristics of competitive sports and the fundamental task of cultivating first-class competitive sports talents.

With the approval of Zhejiang Provincial People's government, the college was established in September 2004 on the basis of merging Zhejiang staff sports technology college, Zhejiang sports school and Xiaoshan sports training base of Zhejiang sports bureau. In January 2006, Zhejiang sports training team 1, Zhejiang sports training team 2 and Zhejiang track and field management center were incorporated into Zhejiang sports vocational and technical college. In July of the same year, Zhejiang Provincial People's Government approved the establishment of Zhejiang sports vocational and technical college.

From 1979 to 2012, Zhejiang athletes won 191 world champions, 321 Asian champions and more than 1600 national champions. At present, the college has 642 registered teaching staff, including 100 full-time vocational teachers and 202 other teachers (coaches). Among the full-time teachers in higher vocational colleges, 54 (54%) have the title of deputy senior or above, 25 (25%) have graduate education or degree, and 60 (60%) have the quality of "Double Teachers".
