Xinjiang Hetian Teachers College (hereinafter referred to as Hetian Teachers College) is located in the northern foot of Kunlun Mountain in the west of China, the southern edge of taklimakansha, and the historic city of the South Road of the ancient Silk Road, Hetian city. In December 1978, with the approval of the State Council and the former Ministry of education, Hotan Teachers College was established on the basis of the former Hotan normal school (founded in 1938). It is a full-time normal college in the autonomous region with the characteristics of specialized education. Over the past 30 years since its establishment, Hotan Teachers College has trained more than 10000 professional talents for all prefectures in southern Xinjiang. It has become an important teacher education base for training qualified primary and secondary school teachers in southern Xinjiang and a cradle for training all kinds of professional talents suitable for the needs of economic and social development in southern Xinjiang. At present, the school has 386 in-service teaching staff, 80 with professional and technical positions above deputy senior high, and 128 at intermediate level. At the end of 2006, there were more than 3000 college students and nearly 1600 adult students. Through continuous construction and development, and with the support of the Education Department of the autonomous region, our school has started to recruit students outside the province since 2005. This year, we will recruit students in Gansu, Shaanxi, Henan, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Anhui, Sichuan and other provinces. The school mainly consists of Uighur students, with a small number of Han, Kirgiz, Tajik, Kazak and other 17 nationalities. The total fixed assets of the school exceeded 122 million yuan. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 9.406 million yuan, including nearly 400 teaching computers. The school covers a total area of 488 mu. The building area of the school is nearly 100000 square meters. There are more than 20000 square meters of teaching rooms and more than 19000 square meters of student dormitories. With complete teaching facilities, it has 25 basic teaching laboratories for physics, chemistry, computer and other majors, 10 multimedia classrooms and 4 voice classrooms. The library has a collection of 242000 books and 293 periodicals. The Journal of Hetian Teachers College, a national second-class academic journal in Uyghur and Chinese, has been edited and published. The hardened area of campus landscaping is more than 77000 square meters, and the greening rate is more than 30%. The school has 13 teaching units with 21 professional directions: mathematics education, physics education, applied electronic technology education, biology education, chemistry education, primary education (Science Education), geography education, physical education, Chinese (Uygur language and Literature Education), ideological and political education, history education, Chinese, Chinese (Chinese language and Culture), computer application Technology (Computer Science Education), modern educational technology, art education, music education, tourism management, resources and environment and urban and rural planning management, computer network technology, secretary, etc. Our university and Xinjiang Normal University also jointly enroll ordinary undergraduate classes in mathematics and applied mathematics, chemistry and Chinese. In September 2006, the school successfully passed the education and teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of education, and the evaluation result reached "good". The College of adult education of the University offers the adult diploma education for all majors set up by the University, and cooperates with Xinjiang University, Xinjiang Normal University and Kashgar Normal University to provide the diploma education for all majors of the University. In addition, it also undertakes the training of teachers in Hotan area and the on-the-job training and continuing education of minority workers in southern Xinjiang. The school is the national Chinese Proficiency Test Center, the national computer grade test center, the National Adult Higher Education Test Center, and the modern Uygur orthographic level test center in the autonomous region. The school has formed a multi-level school running pattern of full-time, correspondence, full-time and other forms, with normal education as the main part and adult education as the supplement.
