School profile

Jiangsu University, approved by the Ministry of education in August 2001, is a teaching and research-oriented comprehensive national key university with engineering characteristics, which was established by the merger of the former Jiangsu University of science and technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang normal college. It is one of the first batch of universities with the right to confer doctoral degrees in China, and its comprehensive strength ranks among the top 100 universities in China. The school is located in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, a famous historical and cultural city in the south of the Yangtze River with beautiful scenery. The campus covers an area of 3045 mu, with a construction area of more than 1.4 million square meters.

The school shares the same ancestry with Nanjing University and Southeast University. Its history can be traced back to Sanjiang normal school founded by Liu Kunyi and Zhang Zhidong in Nanjing in 1902.

At present, the university has 24 colleges, with more than 35000 full-time students, including nearly 7000 graduate students and more than 200 international students; it has 76 undergraduate majors, covering nine university disciplines, including engineering, science, medicine, management, economics, law, literature, education, history, etc.
