Baoshan University

Baoshan normal college is one of the first four normal colleges in Yunnan Province approved by the State Council in 1978. It is located in Longyang District, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province.

Baoshan, known as Yongchang in ancient times, is an important town in western Yunnan developed earlier in history. Baoshan has a prosperous culture, outstanding people, pleasant climate, beautiful environment and rich resources. There are National Nature Reserve "Gaoligong Mountain", national Tengchong "Huoshan hot sea park", and China's top ten charming towns - "Heshun". Baoshan is located in the center of Dali, Dehong, Lijiang, Lincang, Nujiang and Diqing. It is close to Dali and Lijiang, and has convenient transportation. The expressway has been opened. It has two airports, Baoshan and Tengchong. It has unique geographical advantages. It is an important land trade hub between China and Myanmar. With the continuous expansion of opening up, Baoshan is a "bridgehead" for South and Southeast Asia It will become increasingly prominent.

Baoshan Teachers College was relocated and rebuilt in 2002. The new campus covers an area of 800 mu. At present, the construction of the new campus has been basically completed, and a modern university has begun to take shape.

In addition to Yunnan, the school also enrolls students from other 16 provinces, with 5000 full-time students. In 2006, we jointly held two undergraduate programs of secretary and computer application with Yunnan University, and in 2007, we jointly held a five-year junior college class of primary education with Nujiang Prefecture. At present, there are 11 departments and 33 majors in Chinese, mathematics, English, political history, physics, biochemistry, music, fine arts, computer science, education and physical education, which are divided into seven major categories of culture and education, finance and economics, civil engineering, electronic information, tourism, biochemistry, medicine and art design media, and nine secondary categories.

The school has 397 staff and 284 full-time teachers. Among them, there are 10 doctoral students (including those who are studying) and 129 master's students (including those who are studying). The proportion of full-time teachers with graduate degrees is 31%; there are 12 professors and 76 associate professors, and the proportion of full-time teachers with senior professional titles is 31%. Since 1993, 17 foreign teachers from the United States, Britain, Sweden, Australia and other countries have come to teach. In May 2008, the University appointed Huang Runqian, sun Handong, Su Junhong, Chen Jing, Dai Yongnian and Ma Hongqi as visiting professors. At present, more than 30 visiting professors have been employed in our university. The school actively exchanges and cooperation with Burma Myitkyina University and Thailand Chiang Mai University, and becomes a sister school with South Korea's Kanto University.

The school has 19 multimedia classrooms (more than 3231), 7 public computer rooms (325) and 9 advanced digital voice rooms (more than 400). The campus LAN uses 100m optical fiber to access the Internet, adopts fast Ethernet technology, star topology to connect more than 500 computers, and 2m dedicated circuit to access CERNET for teaching. The campus network has been put into operation, with more than 1400 information points. The library has a collection of 500000 books and 1140 seats in the reading room. The total value of teaching instruments is 25 million yuan.

The school has one provincial excellent course and two provincial key majors. There are four research institutions: Bioengineering laboratory, Yongchang Culture Research Institute, Psychological Education Research Institute, primary and secondary education research office, among which bioengineering laboratory is Baoshan Key Laboratory. In April 2008, the project of bioengineering wasabi technology in Baoshan Teachers College has passed the appraisal and acceptance by an expert group composed of Nanjing Agricultural University, Guangxi University and Yunnan University, and the achievement is the first in China. The school has established 42 educational practice bases, and has also established a stable training base in cooperation with 17 enterprises such as Guanfang group.

In the past five years, the university has undertaken one national "Eleventh Five Year" teaching and research planning project, 15 provincial scientific research projects, 4 provincial teaching and research projects, and 122 municipal and school level scientific research and teaching and research projects. He has published more than 700 papers in academic journals at home and abroad, including more than 20 papers in national Chinese core journals, more than 60 monographs and textbooks, and has won more than 40 teaching and research awards at or above the provincial level. Journal of Baoshan Teachers College is a public publication at home and abroad.

The school implements the professional scholarship system for all students, and implements the national scholarship, Yunnan provincial government scholarship, school scholarship, Ziyuan group scholarship, Tan Yiming scholarship, Taibao cold window scholarship, national scholarship, provincial government scholarship, national student loan and other subsidy policies for students with financial difficulties. The school establishes the archives of poor students, and provides part-time jobs for poor students to help them complete their studies. Our normal and non normal schools have the same distribution standard. Our school promises never to let a student drop out of school because of the financial difficulties of his family.

Over the past 30 years, the school has taken teaching and educating people, serving local economic and social development as its own responsibility, trained more than 15000 social construction talents for Baoshan and Western Yunnan frontier ethnic areas, trained 30000 primary and secondary school management cadres and in-service teachers, and made important contributions to local social, economic, educational and cultural development. In the long-term school running practice, the school has accumulated rich school running experience, formed a fine school running tradition and distinctive school running characteristics. The university has a long history of running a school, remarkable benefits, excellent school spirit, rigorous teaching style, correct style of study, excellent structure of teaching staff, solid basic skills of students, and high employment rate of graduates (in 2005, 2006 and 2007, the employment work of our University won the first and second prizes of employment assessment of Yunnan Provincial Department of Education). In 2007, the employment rate of civil engineering, environmental art, art design, accounting and tourism management was 100%. And other good image in Baoshan and Western Yunnan to win a higher social reputation and recognition.

The campus area, building area, teaching staff, books, teaching equipment and other indicators have reached or basically met the requirements of undergraduate colleges. At present, the whole school staff and students are working hard to achieve the goal of upgrading in 2008. During the Eleventh Five Year Plan period, we will strive to build the university into an undergraduate university with teachers as the main body and "three educations" (teacher education, higher vocational and technical education and adult higher education) simultaneously, with obvious advantages and outstanding characteristics, based in western Yunnan, serving local areas, radiating South Asia and Southeast Asia.
