Anhui University is a key construction University of the national "211 Project", a University jointly built by the people's Government of Anhui Province and the Ministry of education, and a key comprehensive university of Anhui Province. As the beginning of modern higher education in Anhui Province, the University was founded in Anqing City in 1928. During the Anti Japanese War, the school was forced to move westward and was once scattered. In 1946, it was resumed as the national Anhui University. In December 1949, the school moved to Wuhu. After several adjustments, the school moved to Hefei in 1956 and resumed enrollment in 1958.
