Perennial herbs. The taproot is very thick and cylindrical. The stem is very short. The leaves are singularly pinnate compound, 6-10 cm long, with thin and weak rachis, densely pubescent; leaflets are 7-13, opposite, linear, 1.3-2.5 cm long, 1-2 mm wide, pubescent; stipules are small, lanceolate, connate with petiole. There are 2-5 flowers arranged in a nearly capitate raceme; the calyx is tubular and toothed; the Corolla is purplish red, purple or red. Pods suborbicular, densely pubescent.
Born in grassland, Xiangyang mountain. It is distributed in Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia and Northeast China.
