Annual herbs. The culm is thin and weak, glabrous, the base is inclined, 30-45 cm high, many nodes, often branched, and the nodes at the base are easy to take root after being soiled. Leaf sheaths shorter than internodes, with short verrucous hairs; ligule membranous, margin ciliate; leaf blade ovate lanceolate, 2-4cm long, 8-15mm wide, base star heart-shaped embracing stem, glabrous except lower margin ciliate. Raceme slender, 1.5-3 cm long, 2-10, finger like arrangement or clustered at the top of stem; petiolate spikelets degenerate, only short petiole; sessile spikelets 4-4.5 mm long, ovate lanceolate, grayish green or purplish; the first glume has 7-9 veins, apex obtuse; the second glume is as long as the first glume, navicular, with 9 veins, and the veins on both sides are not obvious, apex pointed; the first lemma is oblong, apex pointed, long It is about 2 / 3 of the first glume; the second lemma is as long as the first lemma, with a curved awn protruding near the base; stamens 2, anthers yellow or purple, 0.7-1 mm long. Caryopsis oblong, several as long as lemma. The flowering and fruiting period is from August to October.
