[source] it is the bark or root bark of Pinus Lysimachia.

[plant morphology] Pseudolarix japonicus, also known as Pseudolarix japonicus, water tree and Pseudolarix japonicus.

Deciduous trees, 20-40 m high. The stem is erect and the branches are round; the long branches have longitudinal cracks, the leaves are scattered on them, the short branches have dense rings, and the leaves are clustered on them in radial shape. The leaves are linear, about 3-7 cm long and 1-2 mm wide, the apex is sharp, the base is gradually narrow, and the leaves turn golden yellow after autumn. The flowers are unisexual, monoecious; the male flowers are catkin shaped, drooping, yellow, with several or dozens gathered at the top of the branchlets, and the base is covered with numerous obovate cuneiform membranous scales; the female flowers are solitary at the top of the leafy branchlets, and consist of most spirally arranged scales. Cones ovate, erect, 5-7.5 cm long, 3-6 cm in diameter, scales woody, broadly ovate to ovate lanceolate, apex concave or obtuse, base heart-shaped, falling off after heat, bracts lanceolate, 6-7 mm long, apex long pointed, middle protuberant. Seeds 2 per scale, 8 mm long, rich in oil, with membranous long wings, as long as scales or short tips. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from October to November.
