[plant morphology] Acanthopanax giraldii, also known as Tianmu Qionghua.
Deciduous shrub, 2-3m high. The bark is grayish brown, with longitudinal strips and cork layers; the branchlets are brown to reddish brown, with obvious edges. The leaves are simple, opposite, ovate to broadly ovate, 6-12 m long, 5-10 cm wide, usually 3-lobed, rounded or truncated at the base, palmately 3-veined, lobes spreading slightly outward, middle lobes longer than lateral lobes, apex acuminate or protruding, margin with irregular teeth, yellow green above, glabrous below, hairy in vein axils; petioles stout, glandular near. The umbelliform cyme is terminal, compact and multi flowered. It is composed of 6-8 corymbs, 8-10 cm in diameter. The fertile flower is in the center, and there are infertile radial flowers on the periphery. The total stalk is stout, 2-5 cm long. The Corolla is cup-shaped, radially spreading, milky white, 5-lobed, 5 mm in diameter. The anther is purple. The infertile flower is white, 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter, 5-lobed. Drupe globose, 8 mm in diameter, bright red, odorous. Seeds round, flat. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from August to September.
It grows in hillside, forest edge and miscellaneous forest. Distributed in Liaoning, Jilin, heilongqian, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Hebei, Hubei, Sichuan, Zhejiang and other places.
