[plant morphology] sunshine fluttering grass
Herbs annual, without rhizome. The culms are tufted, 10-60 cm high, oblate, with longitudinal grooves, and 1-3 leafless sheaths at the base. Leaves longer or shorter than culm, lateral flat, sword shaped, apex bristly; sheath lateral flat, back keel shaped, margin membranous, rusty, sheath mouth obliquely split, without ligule; bracts 2-4, bristly, base wider. Cymes recur or recur many times; radial branches 3-6; spikelets solitary at the top of radial branches, spherical; scales membranous, ovate, chestnut, with white narrow edge, dorsal keel protruding, with 3 veins; stamens 2; style triangular, base slightly expanded, stigma 3. Nutlets obovate, straw yellow, with verrucous protuberances and transverse cracks, round reticulate.
It grows in wet swamp area and paddy field. It is widely distributed in China except northeast and northwest.
[collection] the whole grass was collected in summer and autumn and dried in the sun.
It is cool in nature and sweet in taste.
Functions and indications: clearing away heat, diuresis, detoxification and detumescence. Treatment of summer heat, oliguria, hematuria, gastroenteritis, swelling and pain of leg strain.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 1-2 Liang fresh. External use: tamping.
[selected formula] it is used to treat leg injury, swelling and pain; sunshine blows grass, Cinnamomum camphora bark and peach shoot, and wine lees are added to mash and apply externally.
