[plant morphology] Marigold

Annual herb; stout and erect, about 60 cm high, with putrefaction smell when kneaded. Leaves opposite, pinnate, lobes oblong or lanceolate, 1.2-2.5 cm long, margin serrate, several large glands near margin, some lobes have a long awn at the apex or tooth tip. The inflorescence is solitary, yellow to orange, 5-10 cm in diameter; the peduncle is stout; the involucre is bell shaped, the teeth are elongated; the ligulate flowers are numerous, with long stalks, outside row, and the tongue turns outward. Achene linear, crown with 1-2 long awned and 2-3 short blunt scales. The flowering period is autumn and winter.

It is cultivated all over the country.
