Deciduous twining shrubs, about 3 meters high. Single leaf alternate, ovate to broadly lanceolate, 2.5-5 cm long and 1.2-2.5 cm wide, apex acute, with cuspidate, base rounded or subcordate, entire or anterior part undulate serrate, both sides glabrous, lateral veins 7-10 pairs; petiole 6-9 mm long, stipules 1 pair. Flowers greenish, in narrow panicles, on top of lateral branches; calyx 5-lobed, lobes ovate, with very fine cilia; petals 5-obovate, smaller than sepals; stamens 5; ovary 2-locular, style thick and short, 2-forked. Drupe oblong, 7-8 mm long, purple black, base with persistent calyx. The flowering period is summer and autumn. The fruit ripens after one year.
