Evergreen vine like shrubs, up to 5 meters high. Branchlets pubescent. Single leaf opposite, with short petiole; leaf membranous or thin papery, ovate oblong or ovate lanceolate, 4-8 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, apex acuminate, base truncate or slightly oblique, dark green above, sparse white pilose, light green below, densely white pilose; veins raised on the back; stipules 2-lobed, lanceolate to linear. Corymb terminal; calyx 5-lobed, lobes linear, densely white pilose, often 1-2 expanded into leaflike, broadly ovate or round, 3.5 cm long, white; corolla golden yellow, funnel-shaped, 2-3 cm long, apex 5-lobed, lobes oval; stamen 5; pistil 1, stigma 2-dichotomous. Berry globose, dark purple, about 7-8 mm in diameter. It blooms in early summer.
Born on hillside and woodland. It is distributed in Sichuan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and Taiwan.

② Jade leaf and golden flower
Deciduous shrub, about 1 meter high. The roots are dark brown and stinky. Stem gray white, lenticel elliptic, brown, different sizes, slightly raised, young branches hairy. The leaves are oblong, about 7.5-11 cm long and 4-5 cm wide, with sharp apex, entire margin, pinnate veins and 6-8 pairs of lateral veins. They are not straight to the margin but curved forward, and the part between veins on both sides is uplifted upward. Therefore, the whole leaves are uneven in shape, dark green and smooth on the top, green and white on the bottom, with short hairs; the base of the top leaves is purple; the petiole is about 1 Cm. Compound cyme terminal, yellow flowers, sepals 5-lobed; corolla funnel-shaped, tube long, outside covered with silky hair, throat also hairy, upper broad, lobes 5-expanded, oval, apex pointed, in bud for tweezers; stamen 5; ovary lower, 2-locular, stigma 2, linear. Berry. Seeds numerous, small and angular. It blooms in summer.
It is distributed in Sichuan, Hubei and Yunnan.

[medicinal materials] most of the dry taproots are thick, straight and long, or irregularly curved; most of the lateral roots have numerous fine roots, with gray brown surface and irregular vertical and horizontal cracks; the skin is thick, easy to peel off when fresh, smooth inside and rich in viscosity. The shape is very similar to Changshan, but the section is white, which is different from the yellow white section of Changshan.
